UPDATE 3: It looks like for new Sprint Customers - you can not pre-order - It says the following:

At this time, we are only taking online iPhone orders for current Sprint customers upgrading a phone on an existing line. If you're a new customer, or simply want to add a new line to an existing account, please select this option and click "Continue".
There you'll see how and when an iPhone can be purchased at your local Apple Retail Store.

Which then takes you to this message:

In order to purchase iPhone with a new Sprint account, or to add a line to an existing account, please visit an Apple Retail Store.

So at least for those jumping to Sprint from another carrier or Adding a line - no Pre-Order for you.  Walkins only.

UPDATE 2: Pre-Ordering is now live -  Go HERE

Update 1:  Engadget is reporting on a 3:00 AM ET launch for pre-ordering.  I will stay up and see if this comes to pass.

---------------------------

Sometime between 2:00 AM ET and probably 9:00 AM ET the iPhone 4S will be available to pre-order.

When it is available I will send out a push with the URL to pre-order and also update this post.

Here are two links from the iPhone Pre-Order in June 2010:

 --------------------------------

If you will want to pre-order for delivery to your house you will need to go here - http://store.apple.com/

If you want to reserve an iPhone 4 for pickup at your apple store you will need to go here - http://store.apple.com/us/go/iphone4

----------------------------------

If the past is any indication it likely will be around sunrise on the East coast.

Again this post will be updated as soon as I have more info.

  • Dave - There are now conflicting rumors points at it either having 512 MB or 1GB of RAM. But right now it is all rumors as Apple has not said one way or the other. Guess we need to wait until the end of the week when iFixIt or someone else rips one apart and confirms exactly what it is.

  • I've seen reports elsewhere (e.g. macrumors today) that the 4S still has the 512MB,not the 1GM as has been also reported. Have you found a source that has confirmed the 1GB figure (like someone who has taken one apart)?

  • Well, I got thru about 4am central on the Apple website and got the email to complete the order at 6am. I did have some issues completing my order before 4am. But I am still with AT&T, I pre-ordered the 64GB Black. The completed order shows "Delivers Oct 14 by Standard Shipping". I was also able to keep the $30 unlimited data plan.

  • Ouch! "Wait in line" is gonna be brutal. I bet it will be the converse of the experience of running an ultra-marathon. My plan for last nite was to stay up 'till midnight (Pacific time) and then quickly place my order. No way. I couldn't even get through for a long while (internet or by iPhone). After about an hour, I got through and then several attempts to actually give them my money failed. The failures were at the point where WebObjects (apple) needed to query the AT & T server to verify my eligibility. A few near misses ultimately failed and then the site went offline for a while. I took a nap. When I woke back up ( around 2 AM ) the site not only worked, but somebody had done some quick reprogramming. At the point where earlier attempts failed, they instead asked me for my Apple ID credentials and then said that I've reserved my spot in the line & they will email me when the servers are revived and ready to actually take my money. I fell asleep. This morning I woke up with an email from Apple saying that their server is now open for business (really). This time I could quickly place my order and got my prized Order No! The confirmation email said that it will ship by the promised Friday delivery! Wow, it is gonna be interesting to see the numbers on this year's Opening Day. To paraphrase Tim, I bet it will be the grandmother of all backlogs. BTW, I did choose AT & T (aka GSM, a real world phone from the consumer POV). They did honor my "grandfather" status and continued to offer the $30 unlimited minutes plan. Unlimited Minutes in the context of this year's phone will really mean something. I considered Sprint but I really never have experienced the "Jon Stewart" level of frustration with AT & T. That's just how my neighborhood is. I'd rather have my Unlimited Minutes package and the GSM-only feature set. 32GB, White (like Steve said), AT&T Unlimited plan. Done. Thanks for your coverage! Looking forward to on-the-scenes coverage of the launch day.
