And speaking of free things - Everyone can get something free - well actually 12 somethings free with Apples own 12 Days of Christmas oohhh - Wait - 12 Days of Gifts App - which is a free App for getting free stuff each day from Dec 26th to Jan 6th. One day it might be a song - another an app - another day it might be a book or a movie or more. Each gift is only available for one 24 hour period. And per Apples note - note not all content is available in all countries.
Again that is the 12 days of Gifts app. Thanks to all that sent in links on this one. Also if you launch the App early - there is supposed to be a free mini-Album from Lorde in there now.
From the email bag.

five-major-us-carriers-agree-to-let-you-unlock
-your-phone-anytime-you-want.html
This next one I would file under the category - Well it is about time. In the US in the past for the most part if you wanted to unlock your phone from your carrier after your contract was fulfilled you had to ask really nice and cross your fingers. Some would some would not and some would sometimes unlock it and other times not - depending on who at that company you asked. This is well all total BS - the keeping it locked part. After a phone has lived out its contract - and met its contractual obligation - the Carriers should unlock it so you are free to sell it to anyone or use it anywhere you wanted. And finally the Five major carries in the US have agreed to do just that. The five being - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile and US Cellular. Supposedly unlocking your phones in the future with these carriers will be easier and simpler and met with a lot less resistance from said carriers. This is not something however that takes place immediately - As per the press release from the CTIA - quote These five leading companies will also recommend this set of principles for inclusion into the CTIA consume code for wireless service in accordance with the CTIA's bylaws. Upon adoption, these companies will move quickly to implement these principles, committing to implement 3 of these principles within three months and the remainder within 12 months unquote. Seems to me that 12 months is not moving quickly - and it could be a few months or more before they implement it - so you might be looking at spring or summer 2015 before this is all said and done. But still it is nice to see them agree to do this. Please note unlocking a phone that is designed for GSM - does not mean said phone will work on CDMA. So there are still technology restrictions. But it does mean your can take a Sprint phone over to Ting. Or an AT&T phone over to Straightalk.
http://www.techshout.com/macintosh/2013/10/contract-iphone
-5s-5c-arrive-straight-talk-net10-wireless-week/
Speaking of Straightalk - Straightalk and Net10 wireless - have both started selling the iPhone 5S and 5C. These are no contract / off contract phones for use on their service. While you do still need to get a month to month contract when you get them. For example a 30 day plan on Staight talk is $45 for unlimited talk, text and data. That is just for unlimited US calls. Bump that up to $65 a month for unlimited international calls. Net10 has a $50 unlimited plan for US calls - and it is $40 for every additional line on your contract. Pricing for the phones is $649 for the 16 GB 5S, $549 for the 16 GB 5C and $449 for the 8 GB 4S.
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/12/09/
straight-talk-iphone-5s-release-brings-0-
financing-option/
Not that we would recommend it - but if you don't have $649 at the moment - and you do have a walmart credit card - you can get 24 Months of interest free payments for the iPhone purchase. But miss a payment and you get totally hosed - and have to pay for all the interest at some probably grotesquely high almost loanshark range interest rate. Again I don't recommend this for anyone - pay cash or wait until you have the cash. Credit card debt you don't pay off each month is a bad bad thing.
http://wallstcheatsheet.com/stocks/munster-
apples-iphone-5s-is-fully-stocked.html/?a=viewall
As we mentioned on the last episode it seemed Apple was caught up on inventory of the iPhone 5S - and Uncle Gene Munster went out and checked at 60 US Apple stores and confirmed this with 100% iPhone 5S inventory for all different makes and models of the 5S. When Uncle Gene had last done said check two weeks prior in stock inventory for all models was only seen at 24% of the stores.
Uncle Gene also did a survey of potential smartphone buyers and found that 44% of those surveyed said - they plan to buy an iPhone in the next 3 months.
Brian White is also predicting that Apple will show a 28% quarter over quarter sales increase for this quarter. Which you know is well extremely just plain wrong and way way to low. Last quarter Apple did 33.8 Mil iPhone sales - last year in this quarter Apple did 47.8 Mil in iPhone sales. I don't see how Apple does anything less than that - and most likely it will be over 50 Mil for this quarter. But even flat sales yr over yr mean an increase of 41% this quarter vs last quarter. But hey you know that is why those Anal-ist get the big bucks. FYI The 4th quarter over 3rd quarter growth for 2010, 11 and 12 was 32%, 64% and 52% respectively. I should note the 28% if for Apple revenue overall as are those numbers. So not just iPhone sales - but still 28% growth is way to low when the iPhone and iPad sales growth quarter over quarter will both likely be well over 50% each.
http://allthingsd.com/20131213/iphones-
dominate-sales-at-all-four-major-u-s-carriers/
?reflink=ATD_yahoo_ticker
Oh and how exactly is Apple doing at the 4 major carriers in the US - Well were Number 1 and number 1 and number 1 and number 1. Yes the iPhone 5S was number 1 at all 4 last month. And well also in October and September as well. So for three straight months the iPhone 5S was number one at all 4 major US carriers - and the iPhone 5C was number 3 at all 4 carriers the past 2 months as well. In September the 5C was number 3 at only 2 of the 4 carries - the other 2 it was number 2. Yeah - so for this current quarter it is sure looking like Apple should easily break past 50 Million iPhones sold. We will know more in about 6 weeks.

developers-adds-features-and-bug-fixes/
Enough with sales talk - lets talk iOS - and iOS 7.1 Betas to be specific - as in Beta 2 of iOS 7.1 which was released to Devs on Friday the 13th - because it is not bad enough to release a beta on a Friday - Apple did it on a Friday the 13th. That is either amazing moxie on Apples Part - we are talk Dual stainless steel sphere type moxie. Or desperation to get the Beta 2 out to devs to test so they could release the GM of 7.1 before the Christmas break.
http://www.idownloadblog.com/2013/12/13/
apple-seeds-ios-7-1-beta-2/
Since all of the devs are abiding by the NDA they agreed to we have no way of knowing what is in the Beta 2 release - ok - just kidding. Singing like canaries the devs they are. And what we find out is that in the beta 2 - Animations are noticeably faster, Setting for touch ID and passcode have been bumped up to the main menu, List view in Calendar has been redesigned, there is a new option to turn on button shaped in settings -- General and then accessibility. There are new iPad wallpapers.
But there was one thing that went away.
The option to enable Dark Keyboard has been removed. What Beta 1 brings us - Beta 2 taketh away.
Given that last item - I am thinking that what we might see before Christmas Break is Beta 3. And that the Gold Master for 7.1 will not be until at least the week of Jan 6th.
I am hoping Apple is not pulling that dark keyboard - as a few devs have commented to me that was their favorite new feature in the beta 1 of 7.1
Wannnt wannnt waaaa.

Speaking of updates - there was a quiet update or rather addition to Apple TV. With the addition of channels or Apps or whatever they are - for Bloomberg, Crackle, Watch ABC channels and KOR-TV. KOR-TV is Korean TV - no Not North execute my uncle Korea - but rather South don't judge us by what Samsung does Korea TV.
I did check out ABC Channels to see what was up there - and for shows like Agents of Shield - they have the last 5 episodes available - anything older and there are convenient links to iTunes on Apple TV to purchase those other episodes.
Apple needs to stop diddling around with Apple TV and just offer up an App store for it already. I would love to get a Libsyn Channel up there. Not that anyone really consumes Podcasts over set top boxes or anything - but it would sure look nice. Right up until I pulled the monthly user agent report and my boss asked why we did the Apple TV app again?
PLAY VOICE MAIL - TIM_CINCY_SMASHED
Speaking of smashed iOS devices this is a good point to mention Squaretrade is sponsoring this show - they are who I have purchased my warranties for my iPhone 5S and now my iPad Mini Retina. And you can get warranties for your iOS devices to - with a discount for being a Tii listener - which folks if you go to square trade dot com slash tii 2 - that is slash t i i and the number 2 - you will get a 2 year iPad warranty for just $89 - that is a savings of $35 off the normal price for being a Tii listener. Or if you need a warranty for a recently purchased iPhone go to square trade dot com slash tii - and that is $94 for a 2 year iPhone warranty. Or do like I did and get them both.
With square trade they will cover you if you ever jailbreak - which Apple will not - so if you are even remotely thinking of jailbreaking - that is one good reason to look at square trade.
As Tim found out - repairing your iOS device can be very expensive and then Apple will not even cover you after an incident. Get the square trade warranty now - especially if your device is still within the first 30 days of purchasing it.
Once again the URL is square trade dot com slash Tii for the iPhone and slash tii 2 - t i i and the number 2 for the iPad warranties. and square trade dot com slash T i i for iPhone warranties - Thanks Squaretrade for sponsoring this show.

Hi Rob,
After hearing episode 290, I thought it only appropriate to send in a review of Week Calendar. I've been using this app for years. The built-in Apple apps are typically my preferred apps for everything, but this beats the Calendar app hands down. There are several different views, clean layout, and intuitive design. It is THE must-have calendar app.

Hi Rob - regarding the person having trouble with ringtones created on GarageBand not playing, I did have this problem during the releases of the developer betas of iOS 7 on both my iPhone 5 and iPad 3. One of the releases had a bug that caused problems with the audio files stored on iOS devices. Apple released a developer patch that reset the audio library. After the patch I still had trouble with ringtones, so I did a complete restore of my iPhone and iPad and then restored from an iCloud backup and that resolved the problem. I guessed at the time that the audio bug caused the problem with my custom ringtones. I wonder if the person having this problem ever installed a beta version of iOS 7? I would suggest backing up the device and doing a full restore. BTW, I haven't had any problems with custom ringtones on my 5S or Air.

Dear Rob,
regarding the caller on episode 289 looking for a way to search through notes, this is not a perfect solution for what he wants but I do have a post up on my blog for ways to mimic control F on an iPad or iPhone. It may help out some.

Here is a highlight of what you missed from the google+ community - at today in iOS dot com slash community.
Chris in london mention 0 % financing for apple products in the UK. Ben N put up a link to a review of the Relax App. Fancisco put up a link to the 12 days of gifts from the iTunes store. Ron B - put up a link mentioning that Instapaper was free for a week. Hope you downloaded it while it was free. Bob B posted about how the Apple Calendars 5 by Readdle enabled location services and was draining battery life and if you have that app and are having battery life issues to check the setting on it. Plus there were many other posts. If you would like to contribute or just be a lookey loo - head over to today in iOS dot com slash community and sign up for the community. This is a Moderated all things iOS community that does not tolerate Android fan bois - actually most of the time when someone asks to be part of the community and I check their G+ page if it is all Rah Rah Android - well no soup for them. This is just for people interested in iOS products and software and features - where we can post and comment about iOS products without it degrading into a flame war.
I love the title of this next article - it is quote Apple's iWatch Delayed to speed up iPad Pro Development unquote. I love it in the ironic way - because it was just a few weeks ago there was a report that said the full on Apple TV was delayed to speed up development of the iWatch. You would think with 146 Billion in Cash Apple could do a better job in managing their new projects rather than have to keep delaying one mythical product to help the development of another mythical product which is then delayed by a 3rd mythical product - just sayin.

Hey Rob
I bought an XBox One as a family Hannukah present and I am so impressed with how well it completely unifies my home entertainment system. The Kinect sensor powers up and controls my TV, Receiver and cable box. It offers gaming, television, music and apps. It totally transformed my living room. Using the XBox One SmartGlass app on my iPhone and iPad, I can interact and control the electronic devices in my living room. And as I am enjoying it along with my family, all I keep saying to myself is, "why didn't Apple make this?" I wonder if they are working on something similar, where the Apple TV unites with a Kinect like sensor that works similar to the XBox One. Could something like this have been what Steve Jobs was commenting about when he said they figured out the TV. I have so much media purchased through iTunes and the App Store, I just keep wishing Apple made this.
I have to say Microsoft, in my opinion, has designed a beautiful product with a nice UI both on the TV and iOS devices.

Hi Rob - thought you might be interested in this link re blacklisted stolen phones in New Zealand

Cheers
D.R.
Thanks D R and this is per an article talking about blacklisting of phones in New Zealand - but blacklisting in a good way - this is when your phone gets stollen and you report it stollen - said phone is then blacklisted on all the carriers in New Zealand. If that phone can't be activated then in theory there is less reason for people to steal a phone. Unless of course said thieves want to ship those stollen iPhones over seas which while not unheard of - will definitely not be something the average crook can do - so again in Theory blacklisting of stollen iPhones should reduce over time the amount of Apple picking going on or it is possible that Apples own Activation lock will be what actually reduces theft - or maybe a combination there of.

iPhone a Clear Favorite Among House Members - Press Pass
I just saw that the promo is out from Netflix for season 2 of House of Cards - I am stoked - that was such a great series. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright and the rest of the cast were amazing and the story lines were great. And I bring this up because I have been sitting on this next story for some time now. And that is that the iPhone is the Clear Favorite among the US House Members in Congress. 58% of them use an iPhone, 23% use a blackberry - and just 4 % use an Android phone. I guess that means the other 15% use a flip phone or some other feature phone. Of note the Character Frank Underwood on House of Cards uses a Blackberry - of course if you think about the things he does in that first season I am sure Apple is glad he is not using an iPhone - actually given his morales or complete lack there of on the show - I would not be surprised to see Frank Underwood using an Samsung phone in Season 2 - just sayin.
Thanks to Dr John for this next one. Which is a story about Android Security risks. While part of the article tries to say some stated risks are over stated other parts of the article states they are not.
From the article they have a quote from Andrew Borg, research director for enterprise mobility and collaboration at research firm Aberdeen He says he saw at a conference that gave him the "willies." quote
The demonstrator, a white hat hacker, took an out-of-the-box Android device and downloaded a game called Very Angry Birds, basically a clone of the popular Angry Birds game, from an app store. The device had the latest McAfee and Symantec security for Android, but the game contained malware that neither solution flagged Everything looked fine, and once the game opened nothing changed on the device. Then the demonstrator took out a laptop and was able to bring up a control stream where he could see all the smartphones that had downloaded the game and could inspect them and see all the emails they had downloaded. He then put the Android device to sleep and took a picture from the device remotely using the laptop. Normally, you hear a shutter sound, but this malware had turned off the audio, It took pictures and video, and all along it looked like the device was asleep. unquote
Again this is based on an example from a white hat hacker - but it is really scary what can be done with Android when it comes to malware.

Thanks to Dan for the heads up on this next one - which is an article in PC Mag where Seamus Condron tried to switch over to the Nexus 5 - and well decided the grass was not greener on the other side and came back to the iPhone. So if you are on the fence about switching - check out the article titled quote It's not you - its me - breaking up with the Nexus 5 after 24 hours unquote. Now some of you may say 24 hours is not enough time to know for sure. But I am reminded on when someone asked me when I knew my first marriage was not going to work - and well lets just say when she said I Do - I said - I Do??
So sometimes you do know right away you made a mistake - Seamus was lucky enough to admit that and make a change after 24 hours - I however needed 5 years to correct my mistake.

Just when you thought Samsung could not be any more slimy of a company they go out and do something that well I don't want to say surprises us - but lets just say even lowers the bar a bit more on how low can they go. The latest is that Sammy seems to be having an issue with their S4's catching on fire. Now no one out side of Samsung really knows how big of a problem this is - because if you report it to sammy - they send you a letter that says if you want a replacement you can not talk about it. Basically they blackmail you into signing away your freedom of speech in return for a replacement unit. There is a video on Youtube from Ghostlyrich who had his S4 go boom and catch on fire while charging - and he got this letter. Again it is really slimy for Sammy to do this - and it is opposite of how apple and even MS react when they have issues. And the worst part - no one knows if this is a really small issue or a more widespread issue - thanks to Sammy's blackmail offer. True story time - The other day I was out looking for a Blu-ray dvd player - and I had it down to two units - one from LG and the other from Sammy - I consciously made the decision to go with the LG one. I really will not be getting anything else from Sammy going forward - they just have proved to be to unethical a company for me to support. Hopefully Apple soon pulls all their component orders from Sammy as well.

PLAY VOICEMAIL - ROB_ANAPOLIS_TIP
Hi Rob,
Here is a tip sorta: Large Apps taking up space. Apps you like but don't use so much. Heres what I do. My iPad Mini and iPhone are synced with the same Apple Account my iPhone is 16GB. But the iPad is 32GB. So cannot have all the Apps on my iPhone that I have on the iPad.
remember that when you go to the AppStore App. Under updates, At the Top you see Purchased. Tap on that. Then you see 'Not on this iPhone' or iPad respectively. Tap on that. You will see all the Apps you purchased that are not installed on the device. You may have deleted an App from your device. Well it is deleted from the device but still purchased. Free or not. So say you have Apple's Numbers App but don't use it much. Delete it from the device. Save Space. Then it turns out you need it. Just download and install again. Over Wifi to save mobile data usage of course. Only takes a few moments to download again. Use it. Save your work. Then, remove the app again.
This way, large Apps need not take up space. Nice also to see Apps you previously used but forgot about.
Oh Apps like Games, with large GamePlay History. I'd keep those. But some, like Real Racing 3 will let you upload your gameplay history. So if removed, you can reinstall and just download your gameplay history from the server.
Hope this helps.

I mentioned on the last episode that the RECAP 2 call recorder was on Kickstarter. Well I have some audio I recorded doing a Skype to Skype call with Elsie from libsyn for our show The Feed - which by the way if you are a podcaster - even if you don't use libsyn you should listen to.
Here is a couple of minutes of our recording:
PLAY AUDIO CLIP FROM BEGINNING OF THE FEED 11
And I did not do any clean up at all to that. So you can hear what a great job the RECAP 2 does when recording Skype to Skype or FaceTime to FaceTime audio calls - or any other voip calls. And again it records phone calls - just that because of the phone system or POTS - it will never sound as good as VOIP calls. But still it does as good a job recording phones calls as any Phone hybrid out there at any price. And it does it for $50. Which you can get in on as a pledger on Kickstarter until Jan 14th - search for RECAP at kickstarter dot com. This really is a tool all podcasters should have in their tool kit or anyone that needs to record phone calls or Skype calls for what ever reason that might be.
And good news for Igor - he has hit his funding goal - so if you pledge you will get a RECAP 2.

Here is a new Kickstarter Project - and it falls into the category of something I find so unique I think it is worth mentioning - but not something I will get myself. It is called the ZiPac - spelled Z i P A C - They intro it as quote ZiPAC is a durable USB cable and case in one. Zip up your stuff, then unzip to connect your devices. No more tangled or lost cables. unquote. If you are into zippers this is the pouch for you. It is essentially on big zipper that when zipped up creates a pouch - and when unzipped - it is a USB to firewire cord. Very unique and a nice companion in your laptop bag. Price on this is $18 for the small case - $25 for the medium and $30 for the large. This project has until Jan 25th at 6:46 PM ET to fund - and so far they are just over 10% of the way there - they have a goal of $45,000 which seems a bit - ok very high for this. But again when it comes to unique products - this one is worth a mention - search for ZiPac - spelled Z I P A C in the show notes for ep 291 or over a kickstarter dot com.

PLAY MUSIC from Misfit toys
We have a USell back this week as a sponsor - and that is Usell spelled U S E L L - who is an aggregator of buyers of mobile devices. You know you have some old mobile devices - be it iPhones, iPads, or dare we say it Android devices laying around that are collecting dust. Don't be your own little island of misfit mobile toys - sell them off to someone that will love them and use them and touch them all over. You remember how happy that The Charlie in the box was and the spotted elephant was when they found new owners - well that mobile device you have collecting dust or stuck in a draw can feel the same way. And when you go to today in iOS dot com slash usell - you can put a smile on your face too by getting cold hard cash. For example an iPhone 5 64 gb Verizon version right now will get you a top offer of $305 - that is $15 more than the same device would get you at that company that has the name of cheetah food.
Again go to today in iOS dot com slash Usell that is slash U S E L L - to get a bid and sell your old no longer being used mobile devices.
Thanks to Michael for this next one. And that is the App store now has improved search results taking you to the correct app when you mis-spell an app title. So now if you search for Angry Birds and spell Angry with an e or Birds with a Y - it takes you to Angry birds apps from Rovio and not to Hill climb racing HD. Which it used to as they appear to be gaming search results for some misspelled words for Angry Birds.
So what this means for you the end user is now when you search for a specific app but misspell it - you will like be presented with the app you wanted - rather than someone gaming search results - as Apple sorts based on how popular an app is.

Hi Rob,
I have and really like the Apple leather case for my mini. It is a tad overpriced but it is quite good. It gives the iPad a nice feel and removes that slipperiness that does make it feel as though it wishes to leap out of your hands and directly onto concrete.
This mini is really making my 4th gen iPad seem heavy.

Hello Rob,
I listened to show 290 and am glad to hear that setting up your wife's iPad Mini with Retina was as easy as setting up my wife's.
I did set it up from scratch as you suggested and within 30 minutes she was reading a book on it and planned to FaceTime her friend that lives about 2 hours away.
I got her the red Smart Cover and she likes how it can be folded up to make a small grip for her hand if she needs it. On another note she is the Pastor at our church and wants to use it to preach from instead of notecards.
This is why I love Apple products. They make technology that people want to use and the customer thinks of ways to utilize their device.

Hi Rob.
Do you remember the crashing/blue screening problem from the start of iOS 7?
The one that went away in 7.0.3 or so?
I was just wondering if it came back in 7.0.4 for anyone other than me, or am I alone?
I'm using an iPhone 5S by the way.
Regards,
Dan from Orangeville.
Hi Rob,
I listened to all the feedback and TouchID issues in Ep 290, and it sounds like I am not alone. I think my phone is working better now, however I attribute it to upgrading from 7.0.3 to 7.0.4. I had not upgraded for a while because I heeded JailBreak Guru MuscleNerd's advise to not upgrade if you are interested in a future 7.x JailBreaking. I believe he said it was safe to do so, but he recommended not doing it anyway. Well, I decided that since it was probably safe to go ahead and give it a go to see if that made a difference, and ever since, (Knock, Knock, Knock) I am having a much better experience getting into the phone. I doubt that everyone else is in this position, but just in case, if you haven't gone to 7.0.4, you might wish to try that.

Thanks to Tash for this next one - which just seems right out of THX-1138. Seems DARPA has come up with an iOS App that is a game to the end user - but when the end user is playing the game they are actually basically working for DARPA to help find bug in code the US government uses. DARPA calls this Crowd Sourced Formal Verification. The game in this case is call Xylem - The Code of Plants. My question is this - if people know the US government is using the game app to verify code - could not the enemies of the US game the system - for lack of a better phrase and purposefully give the wrong responses in the game? Or maybe I am just over thinking this and just wondering what government we are working for when playing Candy Crush or Angry Birds.

Filed under do you want some cheese with that whine - comes the story of AT&T's CEO complaining about subsidies and saying they are coming to an end because Carriers can no longer afford to foot up the bill. And well if you think that sounds as silly and stupid as I felt reading it - yeah you are not alone. Per the footing the bill part - yeah - very laughable - considering AT&T and Verizon lock you into a two year contract at a high monthly amount. While AT&T and Verizon - may do some up fronting with funds in the way of a subsidy - they more then make it back over that two year period. When they gladly lock you into another two year period with 2 generations later iPhones. If this is Stephenson's way of negotiating - well he might want to re-think it - most people try even harder to take advantage of you if they think you are an idiot. Just Sayin

PLAY VOICEMAIL - STEVE CA MAPS APPS
Hi Rob,
A quick tip for those who still want Google Maps as their default map.
Siri can be used to access Google Maps by simply adding the term "via transit" to the end of your request.
Example: "I need directions to mom's house via transit."
Siri will then pass along the address information and allow you to
select Google maps as the app to use to fulfill your request.

Hello Rob,
Hopefully you or some of the listeners can help me out.
Recently, I helped my grandmother get an iPad air. I set it all up for her and everything’s working great. However, When we use Facetime video chat so I can check up on her, I’ll get iMessages from some total stranger under her her name in my contacts flipping out for me to stop contacting them. This even happened once when she and I were in the same room testing out the feature. So I know it’s for sure not her being confounded by this fancy new technology or anything like that.
My assumption is that it’s a bug with iMessages, but I don’t have the slightest clue as to how to fix it since it’s not like a text message or phone call that I can call my cell provider about.
This person is understandably getting upset and we’ve sent back quite a few angry iMessages back and forth. As they show up under my grandmother’s contact information, I don’t know what to do since it’s a feature we want to use. Again, this only happens when we use Facetime. After we end the session, that’s when I’ll start getting the iMessages from the granny impostor ranting for me to stop calling them.
Have you heard of this problem or know of any way to fix it?
We’re both running the latest iOS 7.0.4. Her on an iPad air and I’m on an iPhone 4S. I am a voiceover user, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. None of my other contacts have an Apple device that I can test Facetime with to see if it happens to them as well.
I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions you or your listeners may be able to provide.
Thanks,
Cris
Hi Rob,
Forgetting Price for a minute - which iPad should I get - iPad Mini Retina or iPad Air.
Regards,
Aaron
Well Aaron,
I think it comes down to three things.
1. Are you going to be mobile with this most of the time. If so - then the iPad Mini has the advantage.
2. How good are your eyes? Are you starting to trombone when you try to read things. If so go with the iPad Air - the text and everything is bigger and easier to read when held at the same distance.
3. How big are you fingers? If you have big fingers - you might find the mini tougher to hit the target spot on the screen vs the Air.
While my wife loves her mini - I personally like using the iPad 3rd gen better for things that don't need the faster processor.
For my own use if I was choosing - it is hands down the iPad Air. My wife says the opposite. And that is because she is taking it with her everywhere now sticking it in her purse or jacket pocket and she has smaller fingers and better eye sight.
You just need to figure out which of the three items above is most important to you.
Regards,
Rob W
