In this segment of how wrong were they we have the following quote quote If Microsoft could ship today, Surface would send ripples across the tablet marketplace. It’s too bad the first devices won’t arrive for months. But come autumn, for all Apple’s early sales success, Microsoft will pull from a much larger and deeper ecosystem — and across the Surface, iPad is but a stone’s throw away.” unquote

iOS 9.2 beta 4 was released this week - just 8 days after beta 3. Seems Apple has on this round stuck to the almost weekly release schedule - that will likely be the end of that with this beta release.
What is new - Well Arabic content via siri is new - You are able to talk to siri in Arabic. Search for local places and businesses and more.
Out side of that it seems it was as expected mostly about squashing bugs man.
Obviously we are getting closer to a full release of iOS 9.2
But not something that will happen until December - as next week is typically not the week your push out new software - being most of apple is on shut down for the Thanksgiving holiday.
I would not be surprised to see iOS 9.2 GM released around December 1st or 2nd. Most reports on Beta 4 seem to be around it being stable Or relatively there of.
TV OS 9.1 Beta 3 was also released

I received my iPad Pro last week and when I first opened it up my initial reaction was - WOW that is big. I mean I knew it was going to be big - but I did not really understand how big until I opened that box and held it for the first time.
My boys both comments on how big it was. My wife called it a lunch tray.
To put the size in perspective - the screen is larger than the screen on my Wifes 2015 MacBook - and just slightly smaller than the screen on my 2015 MacBook Pro.
It is too big to fit into any of the iPad pouches in my laptop bags. So I have to put it in the main area meant for the laptops.
But you know what - Big is not a bad thing - depending on what you are going to do with it. Editing a podcast - Bigger is better. It is really easy to edit audio on the iPad Pro using twisted wave. And the iPad Pro is also smoking fast. Besides having 4GB of RAM - it is being clocked at 2.3 GHz. This results in a very powerful mobile computing device.
One good test on pure computing power is the encoding of a recording in bossjock app to MP3 format. If you take a 10 minute recording and encode to mp3 - 64 kbps - mono with the bossjock app - with the iPhone 4S - it will take you 369 seconds for that 600 second recording. For the iPhone 6+ it takes just 93 seconds and with the iPad Pro it takes only 62 seconds.
When I started podcasting 10 years ago - to encode a 10 minute long audio podcast i.e. 600 seconds on my Titanium Powerbook took over 1,200 seconds. Just to put the iPad Pro’s power into perspective.
Going multitask mode is where the iPad Pro is really nice - you can surf the web and have email open side by side and have plenty of room to be productive in both. But here is the wannt wannnnt waaahh moment - you can’t go multitask mode with all apps - just those that support it. So Sadly - Bossjock can not go side by side / multitask mode with other apps. But luckily Safari and evernote do - so I can work on my show notes much easier on the iPad Pro. I should point out that actually no audio recording apps I tested would allow multitask mode - so not just bossjock - but also garageband - Apples own recording app would not go multitask mode.
One place that big is also really nice is watching videos - I have been using it to watch Netflix - both when I work out and in bed at night. With the four speakers - the audio quality is leaps and bounds better then other iOS devices. But you do need to have something to rest it on.
Holding it for a couple of episodes of a TV show can get old quick. luckily I have a rest made for the original iPad that works really well. I will mention something similar in the Kickstarter Campaign segment later in the show - it is called Meet Booy with boy spelled b o o y of course.
Where big is never good is with big and naked - I am still having flashbacks to Kappa sorority and sophomore year UD. Wooo Sorry - flashbacked again. Anyway I was right I really do feel more angst carrying it around naked then if it had a case and I was naked. Good news is the Smart Keyboard arrived Friday morning.
I should mention between episodes 372 and 373 in the Tii App only - is the unboxing videos for both the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard - three different videos. Those are up - so please check them out in the free Tii App
So obviously the Apple Pencil did get here earlier this week - kind of hard to do an unboxing video if you don’t have the box - My Oldest son had fun playing with the Apple Pencil and creating some pictures in the Notes app.
Pairing it is pretty easy - plug it in to the lightening port and turn on bluetooth and it asks to pair. You have to plug it in any way to charge it. And a quick tip - when charging it you have to take the cap off the lighting connector on the Apple pencil - just place the cap on one of the magnets on the front of the iPad Pro to keep the cap from rolling away.
In the package for the Apple pencil it comes with a replacement tip and also comes with a connector where you can plug in the Apple pencil on one side and your standard lightening cable to the other side to charge it as well. So that was a nice surprise to get that and the replacement tip.
I did try to see if I could get it to work with any older iOS devices - nope - could not - not that thought it would but hey needed to try.
Per the use of it - I have used many styluses over the years - people still send them to me unsolicited. Not surprisingly none of them compare neither in terms of accuracy or latency - because the Apple pencil is dead on accurate and there is no latency or virtually no latency - there were a couple of times I was writing so fast it was just ever so slightly behind - but only a couple of times. One thing it showed me is that wow my handwriting is really really bad and I desperately need the smart keyboard cover. Good thing I got the apple pencil for everything other than taking notes. The Apple pencil does detect tilt - so if you select the magic marker option and depending on the tilt will depend on the thickness of the line - it works really well. So far so good with the Apple pencil - More on it on future episodes - as I have not tested any 3rd party apps yet.
As I mentioned the Smart Keyboard did arrive. I just received it this morning and here are my initial thoughts on this.
The keyboard is a good size it is actually the same size keyboard as is on my macbook pro. It takes a few tries to get used to how it is supposed to be folded but once you get it right it snaps in place with some pretty strong magnets
It does not appear that you can hide the onscren keyboard and keep typing which is annoying. but luckily there is still plenty of real estate above the on screen keyboard to easily see what you are doing. Some bluetooth keyboards the on screen keyboard would go away on my other iPads. Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Hopefully it is a short term bug.
one of the features that I like is that command A selects ALL - command C copies and command V pastes just as you would want them to.
One thing I have not found is a way to adjust the volume of the iPad pro from the keyboard to which I say - REALLY APPLE REALLY?
How could they not have controls for volume. Maybe I am missing it - I really hope I am missing it - note I only received the keyboard earlier today - so this is not a full review. I like that you don’t have to charge the keyboard and it is light and thin - but typing on it was awkward and the way I hold my hands I kept touching the touch screen closing the keyboard. At this point I can’t say it was money well spent - again that is just per the smart keyboard and I have not really used it enough to get used to it - yet.
So my initial summarized review of the iPad Pro - it is big - in a good way. It is fast in a great way. For me as a podcaster - I think it is a great device for creating content - and I plan for it to be my main production machine for my KC Startup 411 Podcast. But not for today in iOS. But I will be using it to work on show notes more often via evernote - so it will contribute hopefully to a better work flow in the pre-production phase. The iPad Pro is I think is best described as an el camino - part car - part truck. Not really either - but in some ways better then both and in other ways not. It is not as powerful as my Mac Book Pro - and it is not as portable as my iPhone 6+. But make no mistake the iPad Pro combined with the Apple Pencil is a creation device first and a consumption device second. Which is opposite of the iPad Mini and the iPad Air. I have only just scratched the surface with it - no pun intended - but I am very much loving what I have been able to do with it - with one down side - going back to the iPhone 6+ now sometimes feels smallish.
So iPad Pro - Get it.
Apple Pencil - Get it.
Apple Smart Keyboard - jury is still out on this and still surprised by the lack of some features - given the price. Hopefully I am missing something obvious - more on this in future episodes.
Here is Some listener feedback on the Pro:

Hi Rob.
This is James from NJ. It sounds like you didn't take your own advice and use the Apple Store app to order your iPad Pro. I found out about in store pickup at the top right of the product order page along with the expected delivery date so I knew about it before it was in my cart. Just some advice for next time.
Loving it. Until I get the pencil and can use it for art, it's great as a reader for magazines and books. It might be as heavy as the first iPad but its thinness makes that unnoticeable when carrying it around. Not for laying in bed, obviously, but a pleasure in my lap. I plan on keeping my iPad Air; this is something else.
(Spelling check knows to capitalize air but not pro)
Regards,
James
Hi Rob –
I've been looking forward to Apple making the iPad Pro since the iPad came out – I'm a professional musician, and I use my iPad every day, whether I'm teaching and performing. When teaching, I have Étude books, exercises, and other pieces of music scanned into the iPad, so I don't have to lug a lot of books around. I can easily email exercises to students, or download audition music for music festivals, or what have you. When performing music, whether I'm on stage, or in the pit for a musical, I can easily have all of the music there with me, I don't have to worry about plugging in a stand light so I can read the music, or other issues like that.
I also use the iPad to record things – multitrack recording apps, GarageBand, these are all fantastic on the regular iPad, even better on the iPad Pro because of its size and speed.
There are a lot of apps, like smart music, for example, that make life much easier for musicians. I don't hear anyone in the tech press talking about the advantages the iPad brings to the table for musicians. The iPad was already good for all of these tasks – the iPad Pro, is even better.

Hey Rob
I really want to get my hands on the iPad Pro
I am a voice over user and have a 6s plus and an i-Pad air II.
The big i-Pad pro is big enough to actually put my fingers on the home row in portrait mode so I could type directly from the screen just like I am brailling on the phone at the moment.
The smart keyboard case also sounds intriguing because there is no pairing which may mean the keyboard won't stop working with voice over when the operating system updates which is what happens now.
Then, the power and the four speakers.
This is the first audio improvement in a long long time and I'm excited.
The review I mentioned stated that he could play music on the pro using on-board speakers as dinner music in another room.
He did not need to use his sound link speaker.
I will not buy before I get my hands on it.
I rarely use my windows 7 box any more because all I do I do with IOS.
That is my two cents.
Do you know anybody who wants to buy an Air II?
Thanks,
Jan Brown

Hi Rob
After listening to your last podcast, took the plunge and went out and purchased a iPad pro 128gb space grey.
After spending so much cash never had the funds to fully protect my new purchase.
While awaiting my £8 Amazon fake leather flip case I went to bed all excited after spending my first evening enjoying my amazing purchase (the iPad pro, not the £8 Amazon case).
Maybe it was something you said in your recent podcast or maybe it's just my love of my new device but that night I could not stop dreaming of me walking down my local town centre stark naked, with a smile on my face knowing my iPad pro was, and still is at home wrapped in my daughters fleece bedding.
Strange story but sure you can relate, I am still awaiting my case and screen protector and I am typing this message on my pro wearing rubber gloves whilst sitting in my padded room ☺️☺️
What protection are you currently using whilst awaiting the iPad case?
Keep up the good work

I talked earlier about the new iPad Pro - and one place I like using it - is in bed. Matter of fact in bed is the only place I let my boys use it. it is a great device to get some work done in bed or better yet watch Netflix.
And if you are going to be spending more time in bed would it not make sense to get the best bed possible? And that is what today’s sponsor Casper offers up. The best bed at a great price.
Or as they say an obsessively engineered mattress at a shockingly fair price.
With Casper you get a 100 day risk free trial period. You don't like it you get your money back and they come and pick it back up and donate it to a charity. That said - the mattress they sent was great and was definitely not going back.
Casper Mattresses are a mix of Latex foam and Memory foam. No noisy springs to wake up your kid or significant other when you get up to sneak some of the kids halloween candy from the bowl in the kitchen in the middle of the night. Shhh don’t tell the kids
But just as important as quality is Pricing and the pricing is really great. Twin Mattresses are just $500, they also have Twin XL for $600, Full for $750, Queen for $850 and then King and Cal King - for $950. That is less much much less than my iPad Pro setup. And as I said you have 100 days to return it risk free. And if you go to casper dot com slash tii and use promo code tii - you will save $50 off those prices - Terms and Conditions Apply.
This is an american made mattress with delivery right now for the US and Canada only and it is free delivery. And When said mattress is delivered - it is from UPS - in a squarish box that you think no way is there a mattress in there - But you get a cool little tool to cut open the package and the mattress opens up and expands to form. It is really cool Just google Casper Mattress unboxing.
With all the apple devices working so well in bed - you know you are going to spend more than a 1/3 rd of your life in bed is it not worth getting the best nights sleep possible - and that is what you will get with Casper or what your kids will get. Again to Save $50 off of the prices I mentioned go to casper dot com slash tii and use promo code t i i - all lower case on the promo code. again casper dot com / tii - promo code tii to save $50 - thanks Casper for the great mattress for my son and for sponsoring this show.

Hi Rob,
A caller was requesting a suggestion to easily carry his phone.
I suggest www.ripoffs.com Made in the USA - by Veterans.
They are a division of U.S.Armor - the developer of body armor for the military and law enforcement. (Humans & K-9's)
They provide several models depending if you keep your phone naked to using an Otter Box.
I've used their products for over a decade, all models have the choice of a clip or belt loop. The clips stay on and do not jab you in the side. I carry 2 phones for work.
They run about $20, the design is simple, has a protective Velcro covering, protecting it from rain or dirt, and last for years.
Functional for both tactical missions to the occasional suit and tie deployment.
Rob your work is valued and appreciated ~ thank you for your work.
Kind regards

Rob hi,
Just listened to your last episode. Someone was asking how to create a US iTunes account from abroad. Since I live in Israel and wanted a US account I started years ago like you suggested with a gift card however there is a more convenient way - all you need is an American Express card issued wherever you live. After obtaining the card you call American Express customer service and add a secondary address to your account using any US address (no mail is sent there. It's only for billing purposes). Then you use that card for creating a US iTunes account.
It's that simple.
Thanks for your great show.
Eran.
Hi Rob,
I noticed in the last episode (371) you talked about how you dialed the free conference call number and how you had to make the code part of the name so it was saved, there is an easier way to do this.
First enter the number:
1-206-666-6364
To add a pin or some other access number add a coma then the number.
Example:
1-206-666-6364, 12345#
You can do this multiple times if there are layers to the menu. Also the more comas you add the longer the pause.
You can also have a delayed entry by using a ;
Example:
1-206-666-6364; 12345#
This will give you a button on the lower left of the keypad that you can enter when you're ready.
Hopefully this helps you and the other listeners. I use this daily for conference calls at work.
As always, thanks for the hard work.
Regards,
Peter in Austin
I mean sure I guess you could do it that way if you know you want to do it where it makes sense and you just tap for the code. Peter - seriously - thanks for the email and the great tip.
Hi Rob,
A listener was asking about ad blocking for the iPhone 5.
You found the Safari content blockers, which require at least the iPhone 5S
There are ad blockers that use VPN instead of Safari content blocking, and they will work on the iPhone 5. Ad requests are sent to the VPN address and no ads are returned, all other data is sent normally. Unlike Safari content blockers, they will also block ads in many apps, not just Safari.
I have found two, and they both worked on my iPhone 5.
Adblock Mobile
https://itunes.apple.com/app/adblock-mobile-protect-your/
id919790902
http://adbl0ck.com
Pro:
Free.
Shows how much ad data saved over last few days.
Cons:
Sends ad requests to their VPN server, which can use some data (though much less than the actual ads).
More complicated installation. Installs Root Profile, and if you make a mistake in the undocumented installation (such as “Cancel” instead of “Open in Adblock”), data won’t work.
Disabling and enabling involve removing and installing Profiles.
Always displaying VPN in status bar. Sometimes this covers other items in the status bar, such as battery percentage.
No customization of ad domains.
AdBlock for iOS
https://itunes.apple.com/app/adblock/id691121579
https://www.adblockios.com
Pro:
Dummy VPN server address. No data actually sent to any VPN server.
Simple enable and disable from app. No profiles.
Easy control of ad domains, and adding new ones.
Cons: $1.99

Malcolm

Apple TV Remote Loop (wrist strap) has precision construction
I just bought the wrist strap for the Apple TV 4th gen. Yes, it does cost $12.99, but I wanted it to avoid throwing the remote at my tv by mistake causing much greater damage.
To my surprise, I found that the remote has a precision mechanical connector mechanism where it attaches to the lightning port. It has tiny latches and the lightning cable itself has push button releases on both sides of the cable stub/end.
P.S. The remote loop solves the problem of the new remote being symmetrical and makes it easier to grab it in the dark without pressing on the touch panel accidentally.

Daniel from Wisbench commented via the latest podcast about Alto's adventure and had about having to pay $2.99 again for the tvOS version..
Rob thanks for speaking up on behalf of the developers, it's crazy to think that a developer shouldn't have to get paid for their work, a universal App takes work, especially if you want your app to work easily on iPad, iPhone (4S, 5, 6 and Plus) sizes. Note, Auto Layout is not as easy as the apple keynote makes it out to be (it's not the end of the world, but moving an object can result in rebuilding constraints.
lastly, Alto's adventure DOES support iCloud syncing with the tvOS version of the app. so the only difference is that you need to buy it again.
From Myron Uecker
Listening to Rob mention he paid about $1500 total
for his iPad Pro, keyboard and Apple Pencil really had me thinking.
Yesterday I stopped by the local Apple Store and saw the iPad Pro.
I also looked at MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. For just
a little more than that $1500, you could buy the mid or even
high-end models of any device in the MacBook line and
get a similar-sized retina screen.
I know it really depends on what you plan to use it for, but personally, if it was my money, I would rather spend it on a 13 inch MacBook Pro and carry an iPad Air when I need something portable. Then again, I don't use mine for notes, drawing, etc. so Apple Pencil isn't something I need. I really like the size of my iPad Air 2 and don't think I would want the larger size even if price wasn't an issue.
From Mark Page
Rob I was expecting someone to reply to the guy who said in the previous podcast 371 that he had scratched his watch face and thought that it should be made with Sapphire glass. I'm assuming he has the sports watch which unlike the other versions does not have the Sapphire glass. I chose the stainless steel watch with Sapphire glass specifically to avoid scratches. Despite my clumsy knocks, the watch remains scratch free.

https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPad+Pro+Teardown/52599
iFix it got their hands on an iPad Pro and what we learned from their tear down is the following.
as mentioned - it has 4GB of ram vs 2GB in the iPad Air 2
Also there is a lot of space internally dedicated to the 4 speaker enclosures. The speaker enclosures combined occupy about 50% of the space occupied by the batteries. The sound quality on the iPad Pro is really impressive or over due depending on your perspective.
Per the cameras on the iPad Pro - they are essentially the same as on the iPad Air 2 - so nothing new there - but then if you felt like a dork taking a picture with a 9.7 inch iPad - you will feel like a much bigger dork taking pictures with the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. I know I did. So honestly - Better Cameras are pretty low on my list of spec wants for the iPad Pro.
iFixit - talks about the self balancing speakers - what that means is one depending on the orientation - will depend on what is left and what is right. Additionally the top speakers will get higher frequency sounds to produce a more balanced sound.
Per the batteries there is 10,307 MAh’s worth of battery storage. vs 7,340 mAh’s for the iPad Air 2.
Per the A9X processor it is clocked at 2.26 GHz vs 1.85 GHz for the A9 in the 6S and 6S+ and 1.5 GHz for the A8X in the iPad Air 2
Overall the iPad Pro is a beast spec wise - and that shows in the use of the device.

pro-is-faster-more-affordable-than-microsofts-surface-pro-4
There is a good article from Daniel Eran Dilger I link to in the show notes titled - Apple’s new iPad Pro is faster, more affordable than Microsoft’s surface Pro 4.
So if you were someone looking at the surface pro 4 as a potential device - besides this likely not being the show you are looking for - this article is a really important read for you - if you know - you care about specs and price.
One quote I like from the article - quote when apple first unveiled the iPad Pro it noted that its custom designed A9X chip would be faster than 80% of the PC’s that shipped this year. Benchmarks indicate that its not just faster then low end generic PC’s but also faster and less expensive than microsoft’s surface pro 4 unquote.
Again look for that link in the show notes if you want a really in depth comparison. Good read as always from Daniel.

mini-4-faster-a8-2gb-ram/
One thing I don’t believe I talked about in the past was the updated specs for the iPad Mini 4 - or at least I don’t remember talking about them - and I had someone ask - so here is a quick update on the updated specs.
The mini 4 has the A8 chip running at 1.5 GHz - that is a dual core chip vs the iPad Air 2 which has the tri core A8X chip also running at 1.5 GHz. FYI - the iPad Pro - A9X processor is a dual core chip - but still a lot faster than the A8X tri-core chip.
The Mini 4 also has 2 GB or Ram - matching that of the iPad Air 2.
Overall the mini 4 is slightly slower than the Air 2 in real world testing and bench mark testing as well. But not a lot slower - just slightly slower.
But then again if speed and performance are your thing - then the iPad Pro is for you anyway.

watch-magnetic-charging-dock-white
Apple has a new and well over due accessory for the Apple watch - and that is the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock White it costs $79 of course. And since they have “white” in the name - it kind of leads one to believe they will be having others colors in the near future.
This will be available for pickup at an Apple store today the 20th or Now. Delivery’s start next week.
It works for both the 38 and 42 mm versions - and the charging disk either lays flat in the dock or pops up 90 degrees - allowing you to put your Apple watch into night stand mode.
In the box you get the Charging dock and a lightning to USB cable.

Quote the app supports the creation, classification and storage of emails, attachments and documents as records in sharepoint unquote - that obviously is important for corporate users that are under regulatory requirements to secure their info and make sure it is protected. IE Data Compliance
Colligo is now joining Cisco, IBM, telogis and others who are releasing products to support enterprise needs on iOS devices.
This means each day Apple and its enterprise level partners are chipping away at IT’s list of reasons not to use iOS - and adding to the list of reasons on why TO use iOS
We have come a long way in the past 8 years.

http://www.redmondpie.com/apple-watch-2-development-
begins-release-date-set-for-q3-2016-rumor/
Rumors swirling around this past week from multiple sources and with different specifics about the next gen Apple Watch.
One title was Apple Watch 2 development begins, release date set for Q3 2016. First let me say this - Apple Watch 2 development began well before the first Apple watch shipped. That is how Apple rolls - at least according to them in any interview they have ever given where they talked about their design process. So NO Apple Watch 2 development did not begin.
Now it is likely the Apple Watch 2 initial prototype builds have begun - and that is what is meant by the reports coming out of china. Where those sources are saying a Q3 release date for the Apple Watch 2.
At the same time another set of rumors this time from often or alway wrong Digitimes says the next Apple watch will launch in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Which is good to know - because now we know 100% - that the Apple Watch 2 - WILL NOT launch until at least Q3 2016.
I am not going to get into speculating about specs - other than to say the BIGGEST difference between the current Apple Watch and the next gen will most likely be Battery Life. Don’t expect Pebble watch life spans on a charge - but do expect triple the current battery life.
Why Triple - I think that is the threshold where a good amount of current Apple Watch owners would say - hmmm - time to pass this on to the kids / significant other / neighbor / guy on craigslist and for me to upgrade.
Less than triple battery life - I just don’t think moves the needle on upgrades. We can come back to this segment and see if I get into the who wrong were they segment or not come Q3 or later - as again based on Digitimes being wrong we know Q2 is not a chance for the release time frame.

Rob:
I have an Apple TV question that I've not seen addressed anywhere yet. I have purchased iTunes content constituting movies and some TV series.
What I'd like to know if it is possible from the TV to browse the list of
purchased movies etc and tell the TV to download what you want? This is how
you can do it on an iPad or iPhone now. I figure that way I can have media
waiting for me later instead of trying to stream it.
I am an American living in the Philippines and my bandwidth isn't what it
used to be. If you can answer this question this will help me decide
between the 32 or 64GB models. I'll have a visiting friend bring me mine in
January. Although the TV will be sold here later it won't have the Siri
interface. Plus, it's cheaper to buy in the U.S.
Regards
Kevin
Hi Rob,
Long time iPhone user, short time listener. Love the show. I'm back to iPhone after a brief stint with an android phone the past two years (bad experience). I missed the 5, 5S and 6 phones, but have had all the others including the original.
So, I have the 6S and obviously ios9. I have been successful with OpenVPN and connecting to my home server. It is stable and works from wifi and cellular. I didn't even realize there were issues until I listened to your most recent episode. So whatever issues there were they appear to have been fixed, at least with the official OpenVPN app.
Keep up the great work.
Regards,
Tom
Hi Rob,
For folks who don't have iOS 9 can extract and save voice-mail messages with the use of iExplorer. There's a free trial version that doesn't expire:
http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/
With a phone plugged into a computer and the device selected in iExplorer, Voicemail is found in the Backups section.
Or, to extract Voicemail from a backup: select one of the available backups (phone doesn't need to be plugged in). Voicemail is a top-level menu item.
Regards,
Shelley

booy-the-tablet-holder-that-adapts-to-any-sur?ref=discovery
New Kickstarter project and as mentioned earlier this one is called Meet Booy - two words with booy spelled B O O Y.
This one has a goal of $45,000 and they are at a little over $44,000 with Dec 5th being their deadline - so they are going to be funded - most likely are by the time you hear this.
What is said device - well also as mention before it is essentially a bean bag chair for your iPad - allowing you to put it different places and have really good stability with it.
Pricing on this is on the high side - $80
essentially there is a metal plat that is placed on the back of your iPad via reusable adhesive that quote leaves no residue unquote - yeah if I had a nickel everytime some said that to me. And then the leather bean bag attaches magnetically.
It is nice looking but $80 hmmm.
luckily I already have something similar.
If this is something you are interested in - search for Meet booy - two words m e e t b o o y at kickstarter dot com or in the show notes for ep 373

You know that game - dead or alive - you have to say if some long forgotten celebrity is still alive or if they have died - and often times you get it wrong and you are surprised to find out someone is actually still alive. Ok - this next one is like that kinda - iOS App or not. In other words is this next App available as an iOS App or not. And if asked a few weeks ago I would have said yes its an app - but back then I would have been wrong - because when I saw last week that it just launched as an iOS app I was like really wow - thought you were already an iOS App - and this app I am taking so long to get to - is FireFox. Yup - it is now finally an iOS App - which again app or not app - I would have guessed App previously. Really Firefox - you needed over 1.5 Million other apps to come first before you said - yeah - ok - I think that platform is on to something? Hmmmm

http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/4/8724949/best-podcast-
app-iphone-outcast-pocket-casts-castro
I ran the libsyn numbers for downloads for October and as I thought would be the case the downloads to aggregator apps other than the podcasts app went up in October - this due to issues with the podcasts app - and well changes that make it awkward to start an episode and play bar so skinny you need the apple pencil to hit it.
The big winner in our stats was Overcast - not shocking.
The Verge had an article back in June ranking the different Podcast apps at that time - and then their winner was also Overcast.
Next up was Shifty Jelly Pocket Casts - and yup that was right behind Overcast in our downloads. next was Castro. Which I should say Elsie my co-host on the feed - loves that app.
Then downcast, then in their rankings were Apples Podcasts App and Stitcher and TuneIn - all tied followed
If you listened to this show for a while - hearing Overcast number 1 is not a shock - same with Downcast being ahead of the Podcasts App.
And if you are looking for another solution then Pocketcasts and Castro are two other good alternatives to listening to podcasts.
But always the best solution is a dedicated app in my opinion - that is what I like for the shows I listen to. It does make it easier when you only have one show per app. But for all those shows not considerate enough to supply you the listener with the best option - the next best option could be Overcast or Shifty Jelly’s pocket cast or castro or Downcast. If again the podcasts app is not your cup of tea.
By the way in rankings - it does go Podcasts App over 50% of all downloads, Then Stitcher almost 3% then overcast, then Pocketcasts.

Hi Rob,
Quick question for your listeners who use Voice over on a apple Watch. My question is, is it really useful to them or is it just a novelty item? More importantly would they recommend buying one? The reason I ask is because in Ireland we have no Apple stores so I could try one out, and 2 the price. The base model Apple watch sport is 480Euro!!! Ya, a little steep i think so I'd really like to hear some peoples experiences with it,
regards
Dave in Limerick Ireland
Hi Rob
I am seeing what appears to be a bug in the mail app. My exchange account says it has 3 new emails, but I go into the inbox and there are no new emails or unread ones. Any suggestions on how to fix this so my inbox doesn't show new emails when there aren't any?

Hi Rob, Does anybody know of a app or a jail break tweak that will let me have "do not disturb" on everything else except for a certain app, I have cameras throughout the house and would love for that certain app to come through in the middle of the night and block all others. If any of your listeners know of a way to do this that would be great!!! thanks Rob

Oh John you busted me - I can’t slip anything by you. I mean well except for the other two easter eggs that were in the group of countries that you missed - Yup - there were 3 as in 2 more than 1 - easter eggs in that list of countries. Just Sayin Hint the other two were also fictitious countries from comic strips - One from Doonesberry and one from Dilbert to go along with Lower Slobovia from Lil Abner of course. Folks I love hiding easter eggs when I can. Kudos to the others that found Lower Slobovia - but no one commented on the other two.
