Verizon CFO Fran Shammo hinted at a major smartphone launch in Q4 of this year - IE the iPhone 2012. That was the highlight most posts started off with from the conference call - but really that is not news just a confirmation of what was expected by almost all.
What was news is this past quarter Verizon sold 2.7 million iPhones - vs 2.9 Million Android smartphones combined. So yes once again the iPhone was the best selling smartphone on Verizon. That the iPhone and ALL Android phones combined were so close in sales is amazing when you consider Verizon sales staff has been pushing new customers to 4G / LTE Android phones the entire quarter.
According to CNET overall Verizon sold 5.9 Mil smartphones. So that you don't need to go to your calc app - that means RIM sold 300k smartphones at Verizon last quarter - Yikes!! Ouch !!! oh my and simply Wow - but not in a good way wow. I should note - That looking at the transcript at Seeking Alpha - I could not confirm that 5.9 Mil number.
To put the 2.7 Mil iPhones into perspective Verizon sold 2.3 Mil in the year ago quarter - but sold 3.2 Mil in Q1 of 2012.

Episode 232 - Transcript
----------------------------
I need to do a big blog post on this next subject and will try to in the next week. This is with regards to a realization I had - or really more a clarity on the difference between iOS and Android. Simply put People get Android Phones to make phones calls - People get iPhones to do more than Phone calls. Obviously this is a generalization - there are some power users on the Android side just like there are those on the iOS side that never do anything more than make calls or text someone. The later type is my sister in laws sister - while at a party last week at my Brothers house She said about her iPhone she was thinking of getting rid of it and getting a cheeper phone because all she ever does with it is phone calls and text messages. And that kind of clicked everything into focus for me. Android users get the phones to make phone calls - iOS users get their phones to do more than phone calls. Here is some info to back up this generalization. First right now there are about 400 Million iOS and Android devices that have been activated all time - so the installed base is pretty much identical right now. Yet in June Mobile Web Traffic from all mobile devices including tablets was 65% iOS and just 20% for Android - or a 3.25 to 1 ratio. App downloads per user of iOS vs Android - 2 to 1 Ratio. Free Podcasts downloads to mobile devices there is a 10 to 1 ratio iOS to Android - 10 to 1 Yikes - and that was from data from April 1st to May 20th before the release of the Podcasts App - that ratio is going to get worse not better in the short term. A recent study by O2 in the UK found smartphone users spend about 2 hours a day using their smartphone but only 12 minutes is actually spent making calls. Text messaging was below that at 10 minutes. Above both of those use cases was Browsing the internet, Checking social networks, Playing games and listening to music. So again if iOS users are downloading 2x the number of Apps, spending 3.25 more time surfing the web and 10 times more time listening to podcasts - it seems Android users are getting their phones to make calls and iOS users are getting their phones to do much more than make phone calls - like say what you are doing right now - listening to this podcast. Just sayin
Are you an App dev? Is your app live in the iTunes App store - Do you have in app purchases in your app? Well if so you need to know that a russian hacker has figured how to get around in App purchases and it is something any user can do with out even jail breaking.
This takes advantage of any apps where the receipt verification of the in app purchase is not enabled. So if you app is not set up to verify store receipts it is vulnerable to this attack and vulnerable in iOS 3.x 4.x 5.x and iOS 6 beta.
There is a link in the show notes to an article titled iOS Hacker unlocks in-app purchases over at today in iOS dot com for ep 232 - If you are a dev with in app purchases you will want to check out this article.
Obviously - expect more - a lot more on this one in future episodes.

Hey rob just got done listing to your latest episode about how Tim made his book in iBooks author and he's looking for a way to port it to kindle fire and android well I use a program called hype html5 in the Mac app store for 49.99 it can be used to make iBooks or even html5 apps that can be converted to native iOS and android apps using phone gap that's how I make my apps I hope this helps Regards Chris DeBrodie From Fulton mo
Hi Rob,
To the guy who called up about there being no music after upgrading to 5.1.1. I had a similar issue when I upgraded from ios 4 to ios 5, a note here is that the phone isn't jailbroken and never has been. So the issue could be caused my the iOS update itself. I found that when I allowed iTunes to load my music back up, everything was put on the phone but when you go to play it, nothing would happen.
My solution was to go into the music app on the iPhone and manually remove all songs, and then go to the iTunes app and then to the purchased section and bit the download button. This will make the iPhone itself load the music up which solved the issue for me.
I don't think this is a jailbreak issue, it could be caused by upgrading from a non icloud iOS (4 and previous), to the new iCloud iOS (5+)
You could test this solution by just deleting one song and reloading it again through iTunes, if that songs then plays ok, problem solved.
Thanks for the podcast.
Gary
Hi Rob,
I just heard the caller who mentioned the issue with music under the 5.1.1 jailbreak. If you google you will find a lot of similar complaints. From what I read, the jailbreak causes a change in the way iOS indexes music and causes the music app to crash or malfunction. The solution is to re-jailbreak with absinthe, which means wipe and restore, and it doesn't always work.
I removed the jailbreak (redsn0w) from my phone because my music kept disappearing. I didn't want to take a chance that it wouldn't work so I didn't re-jailbreak.
Myron
Regarding the caller who wanted an app to play just the audio from YouTube. I just recently downloaded an app called Just Gobble which can do pretty much just that. I'm still kicking the tires on it but so far it seems to work pretty well. Happy and safe driving!

This next story comes from insider sources at Apple - namely Simon Pope and Trudy Muller - That's who does their Press releases. Well according to Simon and Trudy on Friday July 20th the new iPad will make its way to main land china. All versions and colors will be available - if you are keeping track at home for colors that is black or white. Heck even the iPad 2 will be for sale.
For the new iPad according to Apple Reservation requests will be accepted daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning Thursday, July 19 for pick up the following day.
Apple announced when their quarterly report would be and that is Tuesday July 24th at 5:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM PT. And since Apple has announced the call - the analysts are tripping over themselves to announce or update their numbers for apple wares. Charlie wolf from Needham's seems to have taken the dart out of the dart board put the blind fold back on and threw the dart one more time. How else do you explain his prediction for iPad sales for last quarter going from 13.5 Mil when he originally guessed at the numbers in April to 20 Mil when he updated his guess this past week. Ok He says he quote hastily formulated initial estimate unquote I think that is analyst speak for I pushed the dart to the right. But this time the dart hit right at 12 o'clock on the board.
Actually Charles tried to justify his new numbers by saying the 6.5 mil original shortfall was because he did not factor in the 12 nfl teams that would be using the iPads instead of play books or That the Polish Parliament and Dutch senate have substituted iPads for paper printouts or that Unites Airlines replaced paper pilot manuals with iPads. Because you know you can see how those quickly add up to 6.5 mil iPads last quarter. Seriously - those were some of the reasons Chuck gave for changing his numbers. He gave some others - but really he lost me at 12 NFL teams.
As an FYI - My prediction for iPad sales for last quarter is 18.75 Mil - I tend to be conservative low on these things - lets see how I did come July 24th. Per the other analysts - professionals had iPads sales last quarter between 12.68 Mil and Chuckies 20 mil. With an average of 15 Mil. The Non Professionals were between 17.70 Mil and 24 Mil - with an average guess of 19.96 Mil - Like I said I tend to be conservative low. FYI - if you just did a trend analysis prediction using the average increase year over year for the past 3 quarters and applied it for the last quarter it says 22.42 Mil iPads sold last quarter. So lets see if the trend line beats all the humans. FYI - the Trend line also says there will be 33.79 Mil iPhones sold last quarter. I am going to be a little more bullish than the trend line and say iPhone sales for last quarter were up slightly from the previous quarter at 35.5 Mil. I have not seen all the analysts predictions yet on that.
Again Apples quarterly call will be July 24th and I will put up a blog post right after or maybe even during the conf call plus I will send out a push.
Thanks to John for the heads up on this next one. Which actually could have all of use predicting good things for apple eating crow. It is a report from Wintek that their sales are plunging. Wintek is the maker of touch panels for iOS devices. So their announcement that june sales were down an unusually high 33.6 % month over month signals that either A they lost the design in for the iPhone 2012 or that B the current iPhones demand has fallen off the cliff. Come July 24th we will know if this was the one piece of info we should have looked at more carefully and sold our Apple stock - rather than being the greedy bastards we are holding on for it to hit $1,000.
No offense to Wintek but lets hope it is option A.
Per rumors out there about any early August release of the iPhone 2012 that more than a few sent in links on. Let me say this phrase from the site that created this story Quote A reliable industry source who wishes to remain anonymous unquote I think they lost me somewhere between reliable and industry. As such I will say this per the rumor of an August 7th keynote to announce the iPhone 2012 - ZERO repeat ZERO percent chance of this being accurate. I will not even dignify the site this rumor is attributed to with a link or a mention of their name.
Hi Rob,
I don't need to send you any 7" iPad rumor articles. :-) But, I do want to say that I would buy one for my mom in a heartbeat. If Apple does release one, i hope it has a true 720p display (1280x720). I badly wanted this resolution for the original iPad.
My mom has a 3rd gen iPod touch which she mainly uses for Facebook and email plus a few games. The screen is a tad small, though. The 9.7" would be too big and somewhat heavy for her. A 7" iPad would be perfect!
Benefits:
- Fit in a purse,
- Easier to read than iPod touch,
- Easier typing than iPod touch,
- Lighter weight than current iPad, and
- Cost less than current iPad, maybe $100 to $150 less.
I will keep using my new iPad.
Enjoy life!

Hey Rob, a few months ago on one of your podcast you explained how to reset the home button and I tried it and it calibrated and been working great. But now my home button isn't working again consistently. I wanted to reset it again but I looked on the app and searched but can't find what episode that was. Do you remember what episode that was so I can listen to it again?
Regards, Charlie
Charlie - that was ep 221 I had those instructions in - per recalibrating the home button.
Hey Rob,
I would love to be able to have specific voicemail messages assigned to specific numbers.
There are tons of uses for this, aside from obvious uses such as, dumping your girlfriend.
Regards Nicko
Hi Nicko - that would be a nice built in feature - but if you can't wait or if you do wait and it does not happen - there is alway YouMail - they have been doing that service / feature for the past 5 plus years.
Rob, Here is a Kickstarter project called the Smarter Stand for iPad which gives owners of the iPad Smart cover/case a few new positions for viewing/using. Regards, Thomas Tuscaloosa, AL
Hi Thomas - thanks for the heads up on this. This one had a goal of $10k - well done on keeping the goal low - and to date they have raised 90k - so this one is funded and if you want it - you have about 30 days to get your pledge in. August 13th at 8:10 AM ET is when this one ends. As per what it is exactly - well it is two basically tabs that when placed on the edge of the smart cover locks two sections of the cover in place so that hinge does not you know hinge. It is one of those things once you see it - you go damn why didn't I think of that. Anyway if you have a smart cover and are looking for some extra ways you can position the cover - this really is a good solution. And at $11 bucks right now for early bird special number 3 it will not break your bank.
Search for Smarter Stand at kickestarter. Or look for the link in the show notes for ep 232.
Thanks to John for the heads up on this next one from Kickstarter - and it is a very cool physical keyboard for the iPhone - actually there are two of them the Spike 1 and spike 2. Ok first they have a goal of $75k - and right now with about 28 days to go they are at $65k - so you know after mentioning them on the show that should push them over. Pricing for this product is kind of - ok really confusing - They have two products Spike 1 and Spike 2 as I mentioned and each has different price levels and future proof options - you really need a flow chart to figure out which one to pledge for. That said if you are someone that still can't let go of that need for a physical keyboard - no honey I am not talking about you - but I could be. Anyway if you are someone that still pines for that old Blackberry type physical keyboard then this product is for you - I watched the video and of the two options - Spike 1 and Spike 2 - I would only recommend spike 2. Spike 1 requires you to pull off the case and rotate it to get the keyboard full put away - that to me is way to big a pain in the butt to do. The Spike 2 the keyboard flips around from its storage position in the back and overlays the bottom of the screen for a nice typing experience. So fighting through the 18 different Pledging options - yes 18 different levels. Yikes. It looks like for the spike 2 the pricing is $50. Which for a case with a keyboard - that is a pretty good price. And it looks like looking at the pledges - it is the spike 2 that is getting all the pledges.
Search for Spike at Kickstarter for this one.
FYI - to those of you looking to do a kickstarter project - look at their pricing options on this one and learn what not to do.
Don't get me wrong this looks like a great product and I am thinking of getting it for my wife for Christmas for our extra iPhone again not saying she is hung up on the physical keyboard or anything. But guys come on don't make it so confusing on the pricing options.
Thanks to Levi for the heads up on this next one. Which is one more Kickstarter project for this week. This one is called the Gamedock for iPhone, iPad and iPod devices - yikes sounds like they stole the name from my listing in iTunes for this show. Just sayin. Anyway - this project is at 70% of its pledge goal - which is a goal of $50k - and they have $35k and change. This project runs until August 16th at 10:56 PM ET - so you have some time on this. From the description quote Just plug the dock into your TV like a video game console and your iOS device into the dock like a game cartridge. The GameDock is designed to be compatible with existing iCade games and for dock-ready games that include two-player support and full 1080p HDTV output. unquote.
This one is definitely for the more serious or retro serious gamer - pricing is $150 - that gets you The GameDock plus two retro USB controllers and an HDMI Adapter. And also you get a bundle of games.
If you are a gamer search for GameDock at Kickstarter or just look in the show notes for ep 232 over at today in iOS dot come.
Good luck guys on this one.
On a past episode we mentioned the Kickstarter project TouchFire - word is they are now finally shipping those. If you got one please send in your thoughts of this product - please as always be brutal tells us what you liked and did not like about this product or any other you get from kickstarter.
Thanks to all that sent in this next one. Actually when I saw the first email come in on this I moved it to the do not use folder and then I got about 5 or 6 more come in right after that. So you guys win. This is a story about the Opus Hotel in Vancouver Canada. What they did was pull out all the old in room land line phones and replace them with iPhones. If you are a guest you then get to take the iPhone with you around town so you can make local calls at no extra charge. This is great for those traveling into canada from another country - no need to use your phone to make local calls. They do state all personal data and info on the phone is wiped clean after the customer checks out. Still if you start Sexting with someone using that number - and then the next person gets the phone - they may be in for a surprise when they get a text to that number.
The Olympics are just around the corner - and normally unless you are actually there you wind up missing out on a lot of the great events and drama like say Badminton - but good news because for this olympics you will not need to travel to London to see all the badminton action - See NBC just released an app - the NBC Olympics Live Extra app
And this app appears to be more exciting than a hairpin net shot - this app will allow you to watch all the events unfold - including Badminton.
- Not that anyone really has a shuttle cocks chance in heck of beating Super Dan. But still being able to see the drama unfold as Wei and Yihan battle it out for silver - well that gives me goose bumps faster than a well place drop shot. Personally I will be rooting on Denmarks Peter Gade for that silver metal.
Anyway the app does require you to have a cable or satellite provider of TV content to work - and that means for me with Surewest I need to set up an account - so don't wait until the last minute get the app now and get everything set up ahead of time or else you may miss one of those classic wood shots you see in the early rounds.
Hello Today in IOS. I am a listener from Denmark (Europe-Scandinavia) I make a weekly video & audio podcast About iOS and Apple in Danish. One question I get all the time maby you can help me, Do you know when iTunes Macth come to Denmark?
Charliey Desezar
Hi Charliey - I have not heard anything on that and likely it will not be announce until right before it is ready - but if anyone knows an answer on this please let us know.
Hi Rob,
Was listening to you talking about the new Apple Podcast app and I got to wondering... By Apple removing the podcast feature from the built-in music app and moving it to a dedicated app that people must download, won't that actually "lower" the visibility of podcasts? I mean how many average users will actually download the app? Every iOs user had the music app by default.
Dan Tivadar
Good question - I hope to get an answer on that shortly. But that is something I worry about - I am hoping the Podcasts App becomes one of those pre-installed you can't delete even if you want to apps and not something you need to install manually.
I am optimistic it is the former and not the later since you now get the pop up in iOS 6 that say Podcasts have moved in the music app. But I have been optimistic about other things in the past that left me with the sad trombone feeling.
Staying with this theme.
Rob, if they remove podcasts from the music app will that affect my ability to get podcasts on my gen5 iPod? Doesn't seem to have updated them this last time I sync'd. :-(
Laurie B
iPhone 4S
Actually on iOS 5.x the podcasts stay in the Music app and the Podcasts app - it is not until iOS 6 that when you install the podcasts app does all your podcasts get removed and moved to the podcasts app only.
Hi Rob,
I just tried the new podcast app and discovered something disappointing. When using the dock connector to send to a TV set it does not appear to send the video only the audio. The same podcast when played with the video app does send both video and audio. sad face
Regards,
Jeff
Jeff thanks for the heads up - please note word is the Podcasts App is not finished - as I said before think of the app as in beta right now and once iOS 6 launches at gold master - that is when it becomes a 1.0 app.
Hello Rob, I just wanted to ask your opinion on which is the official and or best iPhone/iPad app for Craigslist? There are quite a few of them in the app store and from the reviews it's not clear which one is the official or best to use via mobile devices.
Thanks for your time!
Mike Sunnyvale, Ca.
I mentioned Navigon's sale previously on the show - well now Mapquest has done them one better by offering a FREE app with turn by turn navigation for the iPhone. One downside to the Mapquest App vs navigon - is with navigon the maps are on the phone as part of the app - but with Mapquest - you need a data connection to keep pulling in info for the map.
But on the plus side did we mention it was free - as in zero dot zero cents - and that does include voice navigation - which is not repeat not a paid upgrade like some other apps do.
Happy 4th of July Rob,
With many getting ready to sell their old iOS devices with the release of the new iPhone (and yes, that is what it will officially be called) this caught my eye (even though I'm not a Grindr or a Blendr user).
Any thoughts about this? Does the Tii Podcast app use the UDID? Just 'askin'. Regards John
And what John is referring to is that some apps use your UDID info for identifying the user - something Apple has shunned for some time. One of those apps that did this is the app Grindr. See really it is about advertisers here and that Ad networks were using the UDID info to figure out some sort of profile for the user so they could better target ads to that user. So if the original own of the iPhone in this case was inclined to use the grindr app quite a bit - and the adnetworks knew that - then when the user went to other apps with with banner ads from the network the user would see ads for things that would appeal to a someone that likes the content of the grinder app. Now say that person sells his iPhone to gazelle and some well intentioned grandchild buys that iPhone for grandma in IOWA and she hits an app which is part of the ad network - she might be wondering why she is getting ads for gay dating sites. And that is what people are trying to say could happen and what is the issue. Of course grandmas iPhone could end up in the hands of a gay 25 year old and he would be stuck seeing ads for murder she wrote DVD collections or Joyce Myer books - so I guess it is equally shocking when UDID cross from one spectrum to the other in society.
I would assume that quickly the ad network algorithms will adjust. But if you are getting your kids used iPhones - you might want to double and triple check the parental controls.
Apple has had a little bit of an issue lately with some app upgrades crashing upon install - This included Instapaper and Angry Birds Space and well anything that effects the Angry bird empire has to be taken seriously. Actually it was Marco creator of Instappaper that brought this issue to the publics eye and Apples did acknowledge the problem and is working with devs to fix the issue. So if you have an app you recently updated and it is crashing when you try to launch it - well you are not alone.
The solution if you do have one of those apps is to try to update that app - do not do the delete and re-install - but rather do the update. That is if that app has been fixed.
Hi Rob,
Cydia app, browser changer, defaults my iPhone to chrome nicely. Regards, Serge
Hi Rob
Here's a question for you or your listeners:
Do you know of an iPad app that allows you to not only annotate PDFs but also insert and or append blank pages (like PDF Annotator for Windows) that will allow me to do this?
If you or your listeners cannot help me I will be forced to buy a tablet Windows PC and my Windows-free life will be over. It will be a very dark day ;)
Please help!!!
Regards,
Danielle
Pemberton, BC, Canada
Hi Danielle - I am going to say this one will be answered by the listeners - as I do not know of an app for the iPad that allows for adding in blank pages into a pdf doc - but hopefully someone listening does. Please folks Help Danielle from going over to the dark side.
Last episode I did an interview with Tim Street on his iBook VIDS - which is just for the iPad running iOS 5.x or later. But one thing I did not play after the interview was the trailer - here it is.
Hi Rob. Got Octopus Keyboard Jailbreak Tweak and it Works great. Using it as I type this. Regards, Chris
Chris Thanks for the heads up on that. The Octopus Jailbreak tweak is one that is supposed to imitate the Blackberry 10 keyboard - so you can actually play with that keyboard you know 8 to 9 months before blackberry users. This is a pay for tweak and costs you $4.99
There is an article at AppAdvice that Chris sent that has more info on the repository you need to add to get this. Link of course in the show notes.
Ok for all the unlockers out there - well unofficial unlockers that is - the Dev Team put up a post on July 4th talking about Redsnow 0.9.14b2 - and how it improves the baseband downgrades for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. If this is something you have been looking for - check the link titled Dev Team blog - Baseband freedom in the show notes.

Is there any easy way to tell which wall and car chargers will work with iPods, iPhones, and iPads?
I know I have a few older devices (for my old iPod), which came out BEFORE the iPhone, that won't work on an iPhone or an iPad, so I have buried them deep in my old computer hardware closet.
But recently I purchased a charger for my car outlet, which works fine on my iPhone, but when I plug in my iPad on the road the device specifically tells me "not charging." Similarly, the real small wall charger from Apple (the model they recalled a couple years ago) seems to be able to charge the iPhone but not the iPad, while somewhat larger plug the cord into the charger at one end and into the iDevice at the other end doohickeys will work on both (this may be a simple case of size matters).
Also, the connecting cords themselves seem to vary quite a bit. Of course, they vary in length, but that's not all. Some of these have thicker wires, others thinner; some have release buttons on the sides of the large end, others don't. Almost all (but not all) have a USB icon on the USB end and an icon of a thin rectangle with a line in the middle at the large end.
On eBay and sites that sell accessories and gadgets, sometimes they say specifically what their charger and connector will charge, other times they don't.
I'm a pathologist by profession, so I make my living looking at stuff (admittedly most of the time through a microscope) and predicting how it will act, but on this subject I'm not a good prognosticator. Can you help me improve my diagnostic skills.
Thanks,
Gil
Hi Gil,
For the usb charger to work with the iPad's - you need to have a 10W USB charger.
And by work - what I mean is it will charge the iPad while it is being used.
When you see the message "not charging" that really means it is not charging while it is running.
It will still charge the iPad when it is asleep - albeit at a much slower rate than the iPad's own 10W charger.

Rob W

Hi Rob,
I've finally decided to give sprint the boot because of my horrible service on my 4s. AT&T is really the only other option around my neck of the woods (rural Oklahoma). My question is whether i should wait the few months for the new iPhone or get another 4s and not be able to upgrade for 2 years. It looks like the 4s will be fully compatible with io6 so the only other real difference i can see is if the new iphone will be LTE enabled. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
I would look to see what LTE looks like in your area - some areas LTE is better than others.
If possible you may want to wait as you are this close.
In your shoes - I probably would hold on to the Sprint phone until the new iPhone is launched and then jump to AT&T.
While it may look like the iPhone 4S is fully compatible with iOS 6 - the iPhone 4 looked fully compatible with iOS 5 at this time last year - then the iPhone 4S came out with Siri - and the iPhone 4 did not look quite as good anymore.
Regards,
Rob W

Hi Rob,
I am no artist but the iPhone has allowed me to channel what little artistic flair that I have. I like to experiment with the multitude of available camera and photo editing apps in the IOS app universe.
The photos that I am sent employed Instagram and so many other apps that I lost track of what they were.

Episode 231 - Transcript
-----------------------------------
Into the email bag.
Hi Rob You can add non-Apple approved podcasts into the Podcasts App by pasting the feed into the search field. Regards, Marcel
Hi Marcel - Thanks so much for the heads up on that - and testing on versions running on iOS 5.1.1 and iOS 6 Beta 2 - did confirm that you can manually add in any RSS feed. To do so you ned to be on the library side of the Podcasts App - which you know you are because it says Catalog in the upper left. Tap on the Podcasts tab in the lower left. Then enter in the RSS feed into the search box and tap search. The app will give you a pop up box that says - Subscribe to Podcast Question mark - with the options to tap on cancel or subscribe.
So it is great to see that apple is not keeping users from adding in any podcasts feeds that might not be in iTunes for what ever reason. But more importantly if you are a podcaster and launching a new show - this is a way to manually subscribe to a podcasts to test the feed - prior to submitting to iTunes. Or if you have a private RSS feed you did not want in iTunes - but want your employees to listen to - they can now manually subscribe. Or in the case of Podio books - you can use one of their custom RSS feeds. Again Marcel - thanks for the heads up on this.
One issue with the Podcasts app that is showing up is that if you are visiting a web site and you see the iTunes link for a podcast and you click on that link - thinking it would subscribe you to that podcast - nope you would be wrong. You need to find the RSS feed link - so for example on Today in iOS dot come website - there are three buttons for subscribing toward the upper right of the site. The first with the curvy lines - that is the RSS feed link and it is the Feedburner feed URL for the show - the second button is the iTunes store page URL - and the last is the zune URL. Before if you wanted to subscribe in iTunes you clicked on that iTunes link - which still works from a desktop or laptop computer. But if you click on that with an iOS device and the Podcasts app installed - you get a pop up that says open this page in Podcasts Question mark. With the option to tap cancel or open. If you tap Open which is the path most will take - it then launches the Podcasts App and give you a pop up that says Subscribe to Podcast question mark. It shows the URL - which in this case is itms-podcast://itunes.apple.com and a bunch of more stuff. And then you have the options to tap cancel or subscribe. Again tapping subscribe is the path most will take. To which they would then see the message - Unable to subscribe. The provided link is not a valid podcast. and then a button that says OK - oh sure now you have no options. I see how it is apple. Anyway - for now if you want to subscribe to a show when you visit their site with a browser on your iOS device - you would need to tap on the RSS feed URL - not the iTunes URL. Tapping on the RSS button on my site does get you subscribed to the show. Hopefully Apple will fix the app so it continues to work with the iTunes store feed URL.

First up some more feedback on the Podcasts App.
Hi Rob,
I Would like to say I think the new Apple app is great, the forward 30 second feature is great, but, it's slow & unresponsive at times. I'm starting to think Apple is treating us like Beta testers. Regards, Michael
Hi Rob.
Episode 229 made reference to a group email app called "Mailshot". In episode 230 it it was referenced again suggesting a free app called groupmessenger instead. While Mailshot is not free it does have a free version that limits you to 5 small groups to check it out.
I tried groupmessenger and it's ok but it is nowhere near as capable as Mailshot and it is drop dead simple to use. I've been using it for months and it is fantastic. As an aside I emailed the developer a couple of times and the support I got from him was unbelievable.
Safe to say that I love this program and if you do group emails from the iPad, then this is for you!

Hi Rob
In response to the caller re a way to 'push things to her phone' ..
I use the "I-Pusher" app but you need to use firefox. Basically you are able to right click on an image, a link or a file in the firefox browser on your PC and send it to this app which is installed on your phone..
Hope that is of help..

I want to thank today's sponsor which is Audible. If you go to audible podcast dot com forward slash today in iPhone - you can get a free audio book of your choosing.
Audible is the internets leading provider of audio books - with over 100,000 titles to choose from. As you may recall I am we bit partial to PHilip K Dick novels - the audio versions of which I listened to when I used to commute 8 hrs each way at least every other weekend when I moved from CT to Erie PA. So Audible is the savior of many a road warrior. But rather mention all of the PKD books I thought I would see who wins the iPhone / Android war at Audible - And a search for iPhone had 4 results - while a search for Android came up with 6. But actually none had anything to do with Googles android - there was How to Build an Android the true story of Philip K Dicks Robotic Resurrection, And of course Do Android dream of Electic sheep from which Blade runner came from. There was also Dr. Who's The Androids of Tara. Actually a search for doctor who resulted in 193 hits. If you like Sci-Fi or really any other genre - Audible has you covered - and if say you wanted to get Doctor who's the Androids of Tara - well you could do so on us by going to audible podcast dot com / today in iPhone - thats audible podcast dot com / today in iPhone for your free audio book download - offer good to just those in the US and Canada. Thanks Audible for sponsoring the show.
Remember that Apple v Proview fight over the name iPad - and how Proview accused Apple into tricking it into selling the name or that the division of preview that sold the iPad name did not have the right to sell it - depending on what argument Proview was using on that specific day. Well it seems the fight is over with Apple shelling out 60 Mil to make this headache go away. While that is a far cry from the 1+ billion that Proview was asking for - it is significantly higher than the original $55k Apple thought they had legally purchased the naming rights for. As in most of these cases - the real winner was the lawyers - as Proview really is not a company anymore - as it goes through bankruptcy.

Ok this next one is a kickstarter project - it already hit its goal of $5,000 - way to go guys on keeping the goal low. And I mention this one as it is a cool looking iPad cover called the origami slate case. Three words. It will close funding on July 8th at 7:39 AM ET - so get on this quickly if you want it. As I said this is a cool looking case that per its name offers a neat way of folding the cover. This will cost you $39 for the case. Again search for Origami slate case at kickstarter dot com - or look for the link in the show notes for ep 231.
And here is one Kickstarter project that has not hit its goal. It is called the Tablift - t a b l i f t - This is a stand for the iPad when you can use in bed or on your lap or on a table - it is a very cool solution for using on a coach or in bed. And it is portable so you can take it with you. They currently have raised over $40k toward their goal of $78K - so they are over halfway there. Their funding ends on Jul 12th at 8:04 PM ET - so if you have an iPad - Any of the three versions and you like to use it in bed or on the coach - this could be a good solution for you - at a min check out the video. Pricing on this is set at $60 for the black one or $65 for the all white version. Guys good luck on this.
Rob,
I know you don't use Chrome. But new iPhone Chrome comes with its own keyboard format. This Tweak ChromeURL sets back the Safari Keyboard using Chrome.
Try out the Chrome Browser. It's number one for a reason.
Oh, thanks for the mention as always.

From the email bag.
Hi Rob,
I heard of a jailbreak app, that when trying to shutoff the iPhone/iPad,
asks for your pass code. This would be great since thieves have to do is
shut it off and renders find my iPhone useless.
Why didn't apple think of this!
Regards,
Kevin
Hi Kevin - I agree - a passcode to turn it off would be a nice feature - especially if you are like me and have your iPhone to never go to sleep. Just wonder how long it would be before the crooks started to invest in faraday bags and cages.
Hi Rob,
Been having a few issues. With my Slide to unlock. Sometimes it takes several strokes to unlock.
So found a great App/Mod/Tweak called Move2unlock. In Cydia $0.99
Lots of settings Adjust ammount of movement Hide Clock Add clock to status bar Animations Translucent effect Two finger Vault And more
Does not interfere with zephyr animations after.
Fixed my issue. Worth a Try.
Just Saying.

Thanks to tash for the heads up on the update and price reduction of the Navigon App. The update includes an in app purchase for Navigon cockpit which gives you info like speed along with G-forces and horizontal and vertical position. Also included is a dedicated off-road screen with compass and altitude info. Right now the Navigon cockpit in app is priced at $3.99 - but will go up to $5.99 after July 16th. The price of the Navigon app is also on sale at $29.99 down from $49.99 which will again be the price after July 16th - that is the price for the whole US version. You can get a regional version for $19.99. Any way those whose iPhones will not be getting turn by turn with iOS 6 or just can't wait for iOS 6 - can get Navigon to fill that need for you.

Or if you have a private RSS feed you did not want in iTunes - but want say your employees to listen to - they can not manually subscribe. Or in the case of Podio books - you can use one of their custom RSS feeds.
Again Marcel - thanks for the heads up on this.

Hi Rob,
Apple's new Podcast app came out today and I decided to take a few screenshots with my iPad third-generation and put them into the Photogene app and use the collage maker to create some artwork for the show.

Gregory
=====================
Episode 230 - Transcript
-----------------------------------
Hmmm - what story do you think I am going to lead with this week. Well Apple releases a new App for the iPhone and the app is about podcasting - and this is a podcast about the iPhone - so yeah - lets start with the new Podcasts App from Apple. But before I give my thoughts on it - let me read those you have sent in.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for the push notification about the new podcast app. So far, it is a disappointment.
1. Doesn't seem to support Enhanced AAC podcasts.
2. Next/Previous controls sluggish.
3. Doesn't properly show cover art for many of my podcasts.
I like Instacast much better.
Regards,
Steven.
Thanks Steven - Not sure on the AAC side - I did not test that yet - per the artwork - that seems to be an on going issue - some times they are all there - some times not so much.
Hi Rob,
Cool & good app by apple. Cool with the spinning tape reel & speed control! So u think in ios6 podcast is gone from the music app & podcast store is gone from within iTunes app as well?
Regards,
Michael
Hi michael - Actually in iOS 6 - Yes Podcasts are gone from your music app. Actually after you first install the Podcasts App on an iOS device running the iOS 6 beta - and then launch the music app - it gives a message saying podcasts are no longer there and give the option to open the podcasts app. And we already new that podcasts were gone in iTunes app in iOS - so yes - they are gone there as well.
Next - Hi Rob,
Went and got the Podcasts app. Was looking forward to it but now I have already deleted it, disappointedly.
I am an Apple fan by definition and have been for years now.
I have an app called Podcaster 5 that I use and I was amazed that Apple's app came no where near it. Main issue: why bother with separate app from the Music app where I can find the same podcasts and am limited to only podcasts Apple allows in its "catalog"? So, you can't add anything that isn't "sanctioned" by Apple. Sorry that Apple has continued to be overly political in this area. (Really what possible harm to IOS could a podcast not in their listing do?)
Regards,
Rhonda
Hi Rhonda - I agree about the part on adding in RSS feeds. Hopefully a new version of the App will allow manual subscriptions to any RSS Feed.
Hi Rob
How poor is the new apple podcast app? I'm used to Apple producing highly polished pieces of work! I really hope this is a Beta? But why make it public, why not bring in the creators of "Downcast" my favourite podcast app! Sad face apple
Cheers
Craig

Thanks all for your feedback. So here are my thoughts on the Podcasts App. One you need to realize what you see with this App in iOS 5.x and what you see in iOS 6 beta are slightly different. As I mentioned above - All Podcasts are gone form the music app in iOS 6 when you have the Podcasts App installed.
Also there are a few extra features in the Podcasts App Such as an audio and video tab at the bottom of the Catalog view. Additionally when you view a show in the catalog view - you get the option to see details or reviews or related shows.
One Thing I really do not like - is that the Episode level Artwork is not showing up in the Podcasts App - just the show level artwork.
One thing I liked about Podcasts App - the first time you launched it - it copied over all your podcasts from the Music App.
I do like the controls - and the tape deck animation.
I like that you can find and subscribe to podcasts easily with an Apple App - and I think that is the biggest thing - most people I hear complaining about the Podcasts app are comparing it to Instacast, downcast, iCatcher and other apps like that. However Most people have never tried those apps - but when Apple has an App - that brings in more potential listeners - so no longer are podcasts sent off the more section on the music app - now they have their own app - and for podcasting that is good.
For consumers it is good - as it helps them find new shows - but more so for those that like instacast and downcast - for those apps to survive they have to improve their apps to be better than apples - and that is a win - win for consumers.
One bit of speculation / conspiracy theory being thrown around about the new Podcasts App - comes from the iOS 6 version where you see a "redeem" button - to which people say "redeem" what - why would you need to have a promo code for podcasts - they are free. So speculation is running wild by some that this means there will be paid for podcasts.
I look at it like this - the redeem button is likely left over code from the iTunes template for the iTunes music store app - which it seems some similar design was taken.
And I ask this what is more likely - that 1. Apple has some left over code in the app or 2. Apple is getting ready to review every bit of content from every podcaster that wants to charge for podcasts and set up a whole new approval process for podcast content for a hundred's of thousands of podcasters with millions of hours of content.
Yeah - when you put it that way - left over code makes more sense.
If you want to know more about my thoughts on the Podcasts App - we just put up a new episode of Today in Podcasting - at today in podcasting dot com. On Ep 65 - Gary Leland, Dave Jackson and My self are joined by Daniel J Lewis and Ray Ortega and we talk about our thoughts of this app and much more with regards to podcasting news. Again go to today in podcasting dot com.

Hi Rob,
Last week a listener responded to my request for a PDF printer that will work with the Air print feature with a recommendation for "Virtual PDF Printer for iPhone". This costs $20, so I had to read over the documentation about 12 times and go to the website to ensure that it actually did what I wanted, but I finally bit the bullet and bought it today. It works great! I no longer have to jump through hoops just to get a PDF version of what I want, I can just print directly to PDF wherever the "Print" feature is available. Emails, web pages, photos, etc. I did have one scare, where a notice popped up saying "Printer no longer available" shortly after I'd first used it, but I closed and re-opened the app and it worked after that. I also cannot print ".docx" documents directly, I guess this file format is not fully supported, but I can "open in" and then print using the app. To sum up, I love it, I use PDFs mainly as a way to save things or to mark them up, and I've really been missing having this feature. I'd always had a PDF printer from every other devise that had the ability to print, and I don't understand why apple doesn't include this as a standard feature. regards, - Jessi D
Hi Jessi - thanks for letting us know that worked for you.
Hi Rob, I've been looking for a while for a good way/app to send email from my iPad to the groups I have created in contacts on my Mac. Last episode a listener mentioned mail shot but I've found another app I like and It's called GroupMessenger, it's simple, it works great, and it is free in the app store. I'm not sure why Apple didn't include this feature for iOS but maybe someday it will be sherlocked. Thanks,
Corfy
Hi Rob,
On the video play back of iTunes movies/tv shows, I have had this issue before. It is an issue with the HDMI cable or the TV not supporting HDCP, I had this issue with a friends Apple TV.
I found out it was the HDMI cable, replaced it with a newer cable and no more issues. I travel with an Apple HDMI cable so I can play off my iPad, I have also found during my travels that not all TV’s support HDCP.
From what I can tell the HDCP is a protocol that insures the device that you are connected to is not a recording device and can only playback the content.

Thomas

Hi Rob,
As far as I remember, Display out in Cydia allows you to output movies etc from ipad to tv via hdmi-adapter.

Hey Rob just was able to do a OTA update to beta 2 regards,
Larry Appleseed.
Hi Rob,
iOS 6 Beta 2 is out in the world.
I am updating now, it is cool to see the gears turning (really the update screen icon)
Johnny.Appleseed.2012
Seems that with iOS 6 - part of what Apple is adding is animation - You have gears grinding away during Over the Air updates and reel to reel tape players for Podcasts. Will be interesting to see what else gets animation added to it in iOS 6.
From Kevin Appleseed - comes mention that with Siri in iOS 6 - when you ask it the time - She now says at the the tone the time will be…
Rob,
A couple of updates on beta2:
- if you download a new App, the icon for the App will have a red stripe that reads New. After the App is launched the stripe disappears.
- some Apps have partial or complete WiFi connectivity issues even though the device has complete access to WiFi.
All of the above statements are iPad 3rd gen specific. Again, as usual, this communication never happened.
Regards,
Johnny Appleseed
Hi Rob,
I found this website to test Passbook - it is pass source.com - regards,
Kevin Appleseed.
If anyone has any other feedback about iOS 6 betas they want to share - annanoumously of course - not that we would ever encourage the breaking of the NDA - but if you have some info you feel would benefit other devs - please let us know at today in iOS at gmail dot com
In June the iPhone reached two new carriers in the US - Cricket Wireless mid month and then Virgin Wireless here at the end of the month. When you think of where the iPhone was 5 years ago - just one carrier - to where it is today - around 15 carriers just in the US alone and well over 100 carriers world wide - it really has been an amazing 5 years.
It is funny that on the 5th anniversary or leading up to it there were lots of posts about how the pundits got it wrong on the iPhone 5 years ago. And more than a few sent in links to articles that had the Steve Balmer interview right after the iPhone was announced and he poo pooed the iPhone and literally laughed at it. I used that interview with Balmer to create with some very liberal editing a big part of the promo for Today in iPhone before it launched back in April 2007. I want to play that edited version now - and it is amazing how accurate my edited version of Balmers quotes turned out to be.
PLAY QUOTE.
See - Balmer totally nailed it.
Looking back at the month of june - Apple launched the iTunes App stores in 32 additional countries which include - Albania, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Fiji, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Palau, Papua New Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe
In addition to that Apple also launched iTunes stores for Music in 12 countries which are - Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam.
So Cambodia you get both App and Music in the same month.
I already have listeners in each of these countries so to the 2 listeners in Albania - I just want to say - I am also part Albanian - And now all my countries of origin have App stores.
Hi Rob,
I use an app called "Pen and Paper" $1.99 in the app store. It allows you to open a PDF and draw or type on the PDF. It uses the PDF as a background, so your not directly editing the PDF, but you can then save the edits as a PDF and email it I've used it a few times to sign PDF files I receive via email and send them back Regards,
- Jessi D
On the last episode I mentioned the Ringbow controller for games that is a kickstarter project. I had a couple question if this device would work with iOS. As right now the site says it works with Android and iOS support is coming soon. I contacted the folks running the project and asked them when it would support iOS and they replied with the following
Hi Rob,
Ringbow iOS support will be available upon launch in November.
Regards,
Efrat
To learn more more about ringbow listen to ep 229 or go to kickstarter and search for Ringbow one word.
They currently are 67.571% of the way through their pledge goal with 22 days to go. Good luck Efrat.
Hi Rob, I wanted to let you know about a Kickstarter project I'm backing. It's a game called Bluff Wars for iOS/Android and funding ends on July 5th at 9:00 PM ET. It currently has <$1500 to go. Easiest way to describe it: it's the board game Balderdash in Word with Friends form. It looks to be a hilarious social game where you pick a category (acronyms, people, dates, words, etc.) and have to come up with a definition or why the person/date is "famous." you get points for guessing correct, but also for fooling others into thinking yours is correct. Just search for Bluff wars two words at kickstater dot com
Regards, Lou V
Thanks Lou for the heads up on Bluff Wars.
Howdy Rob, Here is Another interesting watch from Kickstarter! I am a backer of this one...
It is called the cookoo - c o o k o o
Regards, Mark
Hi mark - Thanks for the heads up on the Cookoo watch - which is a connected smart watch. They already hit their funding goal of $150k - with over $248k currently and funding is open until July 7th at 9:00 AM ET. What is different about this smartphone connected watch is that unlike the Pebble - this one does not show you specific info - like who is calling or tweeting or emailing - it just tells you someone is calling or tweeting or emailing. It is not a watch you need to recharge - as they say - as it uses a flat disk watch battery that you can easily change out once a year or so.
Their goal is to get it on your wrist by November.
Pricing on this is $70 to $100 depending on what color you want. The $70 version is brushed stainless on black, For $80 you get a black on black version, for $95 you get a Pink cookoo and for $100 you get a blue or white cookoo.
If you want more info or to see their video with really poor audio quality - search for C o o k o o at kickstarter.com or look for the link in the show notes at today in iOS dot com.

Hi Rob,
Chrome is out for iOS.
It's faster and has a better interface then Safari. Stored passwords all there too! Regards,
Alexx
Actually had a few people emailing in about Chrome for iOS - I am not a chrome user so I am not overly or really at all excited about this - but if you are a chrome user - just note you can download Chrome now for your iOS device in the app store.
In addition to Chrome - Google also had approved the app - Google Drive - which quote lets you create, share, collaborate and keep all your stuff in one place. upload all your files from your computer even the big ones - and you can access them anywhere including your iPhone or iPad. unquote you get 5GB of storage for free to start. There is an in app purchase of 24.99 for 25 GB of additional storage.
Thanks to Chris on this next one which is about a JB tweak to make the new Chrome browser your default browser. It is called BrowserChooser and is in Cydia. BrowserChooser is Free - but you need to add in the Repository - http://rpetri.ch/repo
More info on that in the article titled Make Google Chrome Your Default Browser in the show note for ep 230 over at today in iOS dot com.
Actually Browser Chooser is compatible with the following web browsers - Google Chrome obviously, Opera Mini, iCab Mobile, Dolphine browser, Atomic browser, and mobile safari.
This is one of those tweaks - you know should be in iOS - but never likely will be as Apple wants you to have Safari as the default.
Hi Rob,
Today I tried to do something I thought would be real simple to do but it turned out to be nearly impossible. I wanted to send out a map to a specific location because I couldn't find it through a search on Google Maps. The iOS maps application will let you drop a pin and access street view, but I could not figure out to get a link to my pin. Google's mobile maps in Safari on my iPad wouldn't let me drop a pin. I finally figured out a less-than-ideal solution on my laptop but even that wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it should be. It involved creating a map, which was then unusable on my iPad. Do you know of an application that will do this easily? Myron U
Hi Rob,
Do you know of a JailBreak tweak to give you a news crawl (like CNN headline) on Notification Center? The stock widget does it for stocks so I'm thinking there must be one for top news, but I can't find it.
Thanks, --David
I want to thank the nice PR folks behind the new App Crabs and Penguins for sending the swag for the app - which included a cooler with 8 small cans of coke - see the App Crabs and Penguins is from Coca-cola. And my kids loved the cooler and the the stuffed crab - they take turns sleeping with it. I am mentioning this app not just because they bought me out with a little swag - but because well it is Coke that is presenting this game. it is a free app - search for crabs and penguins - and let me know what you think - I have not played it yet - it only came out a couple of days ago - it is downloaded - but I kind of thought getting the show out was a bit more important. I will play with it this weekend. Again I just think it is cool Coke is getting behind an app like this. Hopefully the game is worthy of the coca cola branding.
Hi Rob, I wanted to write and ask you to warn all your listeners about Square. I recently started using Square to process mobile payments on my iPhone. I have run my small business for 10 years and I have never had a problem with Intuit before. Well, I have had problems with my first transaction and although the transaction amount was large, I didn't expect the runaround I am getting from Square. Square's merchant support is non-existent. There is no way to contact them, no phone number to call, no way to email them, and their support page consists of FAQs only. I started to do more research on the company and found that there are hundreds of complaints on site like: http://www.cardpaymentoptions.com If only all those users left reviews on the App store, I would not make the same mistake. I hope this can be a service to all your listeners. Thanks for a great podcast. Tony L San Francisco
Hi Tony - thanks for the feedback - I have to say most people that have sent in feedback on Square in the past have sent in positive feedback - but Tony is a long time contributor to the show - so I felt it was warranted to read his feedback - and I am very interested in hearing what other square users experiences have been lately with Square - are you happy or frustrated or have some other feeling with regards to square.
Give us a call - 206-666-6364 - that's 206-moon-dog - to send an email to today in iOS at gmail dot com.
I am not going to comment about every new quote iPad killer unquote or iPad wanabe that comes out. But since this next one comes right from Google - it is worth at least a brief mention. Google announced the lets call it the N7 tablet and no I am still not going to say the name as Google has yet to compensate the PK Dick family for use of that name. Any way the N 7 tablet tablet is well a 7 inch tablet that costs just $199. For that $199 you get 8 GB of storage. the 16 GB version sells for $249. Mind you the screen real estate of a 7 inch tablet is about half that of the 9.7 inch tablet and the resolution is also less. 1280 x 800 for the N7 vs 2048 x 1536 for the new iPad.
Looking over the specs - it seems the N7 is more a competitor for the Kindle Fire than it is for he iPad. Google is pushing devs hard to actually you know develop apps for it. It seems most articles I read about the N7 seem to see it as a competitor for the Kindle Fire and not much competition for the iPad. Guess time will tell. I guess until it starts shipping and gets into the hands of none google fan boys - we really will not know.
The big unknown is real world battery life - Google claims 9+ hours of battery life - but that is a claim - lets see what the reality is.
At least with the N7 google actually you know gave pricing and battery life numbers - yeah - I am looking at you Microsoft.
Well it will be an interesting fall competition wise for the iPad - with the Surface and N7 and likely an updated Kindle Fire in the mix.
If anyone out there orders a N7 - please let me know when you get it what you think.
As a Windows user, I find iTunes to be clunky and slow.
What I really want to do in Windows, is be able to right-click on any file, anywhere, and choose “send to iPhone”. This would be so much easier than having to futz around with syncing.
I’m often getting ready to leave work and realize I want some file on my device. Now I have to email it to myself. I wish moving things to my device was as easy as copying files on to a flash drive.
Do your listeners know of any app combination that would do this; something perhaps I need to install both on Windows and the iDevice?
With highest appreciation for your superb podcast
Debby A
PS - I Already use drop-box - But sometimes I have no cell service or wi-fi and I want to have the same access I do with an ordinary MP3 player or flash drive.
So Windows users out - there what App or apps do you use to get the iPhone to look like a flash thumb drive on your computer?
206-666-6364 that's 206-moon-dog or email us at today in iOS at gmail dot com.
Just a heads up to those trying to Use Display Recorder and are out side the US - you will likely need to change the Region code to US if you want to get it to work - so if you did purchase Display recorder and are having an issue with it working - go and check your region setting - by going to the Settings App and then general and then International - and then change "Region Format" to United States.
Then try relaunching Display recorder.
Thanks to Tash for the heads up on that.
A quick thank you to Hector - who sent in the heads up on the Atari Greatest hits app being free just on June 27th - Atari's 40th anniversary. I was able to send out a push on that - so hopefully a few of you were able to get the app and all 100 games for free. See how the Tii App pays for itself. Yet another reason to make sure you have the Tii app on your iOS devices. Just $2.99 in the App store - just search for Tii.
Just a heads up the next episode will be out on July 4th - in that episode I have an interview I recorded with an old friend - Tim Street about a new project he has launching in iTunes on July 4th. It is a cool new project and he gave me a sneak peek at Blogworld a few weeks ago which lead to this interview. So look for Ep 231 on July 4th.
I want to thank Hover once again for sponsoring this show - you can save 10% on your domain name registrations by going to tii.hover.com - that's tii.hover.com - thanks Hover.
