Thanks to all that sent in this next one which is for the how wrong are they segment - And well this one is an instant classic / winner.
We have this quote - quote After months of hype, the Apple fans did not come out for the Apple Watch launch Friday. In contrast to long lines for iPhone debuts, only a handful of people showed up to see the watch in New York City, Friday morning.
unquote from Katie Roof - April 10th 2015 Fox Business.

And this is from a post titled - Crowds didn’t show for Apple Watch.
Hmmmm - Could that be because Apple said don’t show up - order on line - and only on line. Yeah because all those that normally show up to wait in line - they are far more educated then miss Roof - who wrote this article with out the slightest idea on what was going on. But hey it is fox news - so what were we really expecting anyways. Just Sayin

For Promo Codes This week we have promo codes for the App Split the Check three words, Here is the EMAIL from the dev -
Hi Rob,
Long time listener to the podcast, occasional emailer, and poster on the TII Google+ groups, and now…
“Hobbiest” developer!
Not ready to give up my day job, but I’ve written my very first app and it is an Apple Watch app. Here’s a brief “review”:
“Split The Check” is a new take on a classic app designed to be a really fast and easy to use Tip Check Splitter And Tip Calculator. I focused on the Apple Watch experience by building a single screen and using a simple input slider; no fumbling around to try and input numerical digits on the small touchscreen. With an all-in-one screen, you can easily set the approximate check cost, the desired tip percentage, the number of people dining and instantly see the calculated results for the check total and each person’s share. The default value of “1” for number of diners allows Split The Check to do “double duty” as just a quick tip calculator too!
I think the app design is in keeping with the philosophy for Apple Watch apps to be 5 or 10 second experience rather than duplicating an existing iPhone app with multi-screen/complex user interface.
I know there are lots of calculator/tip/check sharing apps, and some are updated for the Apple Watch, but I built this as something I wanted to use myself and potentially other people will find useful also.
Regards,
Robert S
Thanks Robert for being the first one to send in a promo code for an Apple Watch App. Folks if you would like a promo code for this app - send an email with Split in the subject line and in the email include which Apple Watch you purchased. Of course send that email to today in iOS at gmail dot com

Also when you send in the promo codes - please make sure to let me know when they expire.

seeds-first-ios-8-4-beta-to-developers/
On the last episode we talked about iOS 8.3 being released out of Beta - and this episode we get to talk about iOS 8.4 beta 1 being released to Devs.
One of the biggest changes is Audio books are moved out of the Music app and put into an updated iBooks App. Guess that makes sense. Of course that means the iBooks app now has its own audio player fresh with some special gestures for swiping forward and back. iBooks now has a section for Audio books - so you can see just your audio books or just your text iBooks.
There is now an AudioBooks App in the iOS CarPlay interface.
The Music app didn’t just give the boot to Audio books - it also received a major overhaul looks wise. iTunes radio in the app is improved making it easier to discover music. Now Playing’s new design showcases the album artwork in a more dramatic fashion and you can start streaming to Airplay without leaving now playing.
This is a First Beta - and Apple does note that not all features in the new Music app are working - such as Siri control.
All in All most feel this revamp was done to pave the way to Apple releasing its own Streaming subscription music service - as has been widely rumored. Of course those that are saying it is paving the way also are the ones that have long rumored about said streaming music service. Guess we will know more about said streaming music service on June 8th.
07:22
https://developer.apple.com/wwdc/
Why June 8th you ask - well as expected in Mid April Apple announced WWDC 2015 - And this time it will be June 8th to 12th - again as expected.
Apple had this to say quote Apple’s renowned developer community will come together at WWDC to learn about the future of iOS and OS X.
WWDC features more than 100 technical sessions, over 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs, and the Apple Design Awards.
Developers can apply for tickets to attend WWDC and millions worldwide will be able to watch sessions streamed live.
WWDC Scholarships are available to students and members of participating STEM organizations around the world.
unquote
And well if you were a dev and you did not register to get tickets - sorry
Registration was only open until April 17th - and you should have been notified
by Monday April 20th if you were randomly selected.
If you are one of the lucky devs that found the golden ticket - please report back from the event on how it is going. Mr Sneed - I am talking too - you.
For the rest of us not going - There is the WWDC App of course where select sessions will be streamed live along with the keynote on the 8th.
They say sessions are scheduled for the full 5 days including Friday Afternoon - so if you are going plan on making a full week of it.
And of course Congrats to all that were able to get their WWDC tickets.

http://9to5mac.com/2015/04/20/apple-watch-charged/
Well looks like by Monday the 20th - Some lucky customers were starting to see charges appearing on their credit cards and the status of their order changing to the next state. This is good news as it does look like some users will be getting their Apples watches on or very close to April 24th.
VOICEMAIL - FDBK_Apple_watch_order1
Per My order - Mine changed to Preparing for Shipment early on the 21st - and over 36 hours later it is still stuck at Preparing for Shipment. I mean this is a small 3 x 5 x 5 or there abouts box we are talking about one sealed in China before shipping in bulk - I just wonder how much time they need for preparing said small box for Shipment. Hopefully mine changes to Shipped by the time I get up in the morning.

Hi Rob,
Which model of the Apple watch are you buying?
Are you going to be purchasing it on your Mac tomorrow morning or via the Apple Store on your phone or iPad? What would be the fastest?
Regards,
Robin
Well Robin - I ordered the Apple Watch Sport silver with Blue strap - Why that one - well my Wife asked me the same question - And I said I thought it was the ugliest band - and the one most likely not to sell out first. And given I plan to swap out the strap regardless - It made sense to try for that one - and it worked out well - at least according to my Ship date window.
Per the fastest way for pre-orders - the last couple of times it was the iOS Apple Store App that came on line first - but best to be sitting there with both a laptop and the app and constantly refresh both - that is what I did and this time again it was the iOS Apple Store App that was available first.
Hi Rob,
I just ordered my apply watch through the apple store app - the website (at least on my laptop) is still stuck in the “updating website” screen! :) WHOO! Apple Watch!
Regards
Robin
And seems Robin figures out what I was going to say before I said it. Here is some more feedback from the Apple Watch ordering experiences.
Hey rob,
This is Jeff from cincinatti Ohio. It's 3:06 am just ordered my space gray aluminum apple watch from the iPhone apple app.
Just received an email from apple saying I should have it delivered between 4/24 to 5/8
FYI - I went to the Apple site on my Mac, and the Apple watch sport addition shipping time is now 4 to 6 weeks out.
Just by placing my order 5 minutes sooner saved me almost a month in getting it!!!!
Regards,
Jeff
Hi Rob, long time listener first time.....contact..er
I set my alarm and got up at 2:50am Easter and got my laptop and iPhone ready. I had re downloaded the Apple Store app the previous day just in case.
Kept watching the "we will be back" screen as I kept hitting refresh on my MBP till about 3 minutes past three. I frantically switched to the Apple Store app on my phone, quickly made my selection (which I should have saved as a favorite) and hit checkout. In checkout, the app kept saying that I was "missing information" even though the field it highlighted was filled in and correct. After 2 attempts to get past that screen, I finally deleted the info in the field (it was an optional field) and pressed continues only for it to actually accept and finish out the process.
The experience was not bad and I have heard of much worse situations in previous pre-order dates. Even though I placed my order within 7 minutes of "launch" (I got my confirmation email at 3:07am) I still ended up in the mid/late May delivery window. I hold hope that it comes early though :-)
BTW, this was my first time EVER ordering anything on launch/preorder date.
Best regards,
Sam F
Hi Rob --
Are they kidding?
I ordered the sports watch with a space gray band the second the store opened and my delivery date is May 13-27? What, did they have one watch available for April 24th? And they can't narrow it down any better than two weeks?
Very disappointed with Apple on his one.
Clearly the watches aren't ready.
BYW, buying it with the Apple Store app using Apple Pay was fast and easy - especially compared to when I bought my 6+ in the middle of the night last fall. I wonder if this means the service is much better or if the watch demand is much lower?
Enough questions, I'm going back to sleep now. Dreams of having an Apple Watch will have to wait a month.
Regards,
-- Marc from Boston
Hi Rob,
I was able to order one of each Watch size, 38mm and 42mm, with the white sports band at 12:05AM west coast time. However because I had to order one at a time, I ordered my wife's first and that one is expected between 4/24 - 5/8, mine won't ship till 5/13 - 5/27!
I ordered via the Apple App using ApplePay. The Apple website was actually not up until after I had finished both orders.
Hope you got yours.

Hey Rob,
So much for the April 24th ship date. I don't know if it's because my order went in at 3:10am on the the first preorder day, but the ship status on my order says 4-6 weeks to be delivered between 5/13-5/27. I order the 42mm Apple Watch sport in space gray with the black band. What gives? I wonder if everyone experienced the same or I got on 10 minutes too late to order it. I'm just hoping its Apple over quoting and it will ship on the 24th. That's just me being overly optimistic maybe.
Btw- thanks for the heads up on the Click kickstarter campaign. I'm a kickstarter rookie and they were the first campaign that I ever backed. Looks like a good product and because I got in when I did, there's a reward of a free band coming my way.
Thanks again rob for all that you do.

Dan in PA
Hi Rob,
Using my iPad and the Apple Store app I was able to get into the store at 3:02 AM. I ordered the Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel with Black Leather Loop in less than a minute. I also purchased the $69.00 AppleCare+ for Apple Watch. My confirmation email indicated that the watch is available to ship in 4-6 weeks, with delivery between May 13 to 27th. I'm guessing that only the Sport model will be available on April 24th.
I also purchased the 12" MacBook (256GB Gold), and it is available to ship in 1-3 business days with delivery between April 20 and 22nd. I also purchased the $79.00 USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter, the $79.00 USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, and the $19.00 USB-C to USB Adapter.
The Apple Store worked perfectly, and I was back in bed by 3:15 AM.
About 7:00 AM I thought I might like to try on an Apple Watch at the nearest store to verify I made the correct choice and try other bands, and when I tried to get a try-on appointment there were no appointments left on the day I could get there. They only offered appointments through April the 16th (one week at a time?). The appointments are broken up into blocks of time - early morning, morning, afternoon, and evening - with 15 minutes for each appointment. The store in Charleston, SC doesn't offer the Apple Watch Edition.
All in all the purchasing experience was flawless, and allowed me to get my much needed sleep.
Thanks for your show, which I have been listening to since the first episode!
Regards,
Ed T
Hi Rob,
My experience purchasing the Apple Watch.
It was very disappointing for me. At midnight on the west coast, I was online and waiting. The rebuilding screen had been displayed since I logged on at 11:30. Midnight rolled around. I updated my screen. Nothing! I kept at it for about 15 minutes. At about 12:15 a.m., I finally had access to the store. In 2 minutes I had ordered a 42mm, Sport Apple Watch in space grey with a black band. The delivery date? June! So disappointing. I ordered as soon as their system would allow and I have to wait until June?! Glad I ordered but disappointed the the dismal supply. Apple, we expect better.

Hi Rob,
I went to my local Apple Store and tried on the apple watch and I must say very impressed with the so called rubber band. Very comfortable compared to my Fitbit flex. Also tried the loop band it did pull my arm hairs a bit so overall looks like I will be ordering the sport watch with the regular band. The service in the Apple Store was awesome. Visited the Apple Store in Mishawaka, Indiana. Just thought I would add my two cents worth. Love the show listen every week. Have a good one.

John H.
Hi Rob,
As you asked, I am sending a description of my tryout experience:
Duration: 15mins
Experience: I had already bought my apple watch when the preorder started. So I really wanna to go to make sure I made the right choice.
I asked a gentleman that was hanging by the special watch tables to whom I need to talk about my appointment, nicely enough he introduced me to a nice Apple associated that asked my name and proceeded to show me some of the options I had favored on my Apple Store app.
The feeling: there is no amount of picture or videos they will ever make justice to how beautiful this piece of jewelry really is. The 38 mm it's definitely smaller that what it looks in picture. It may be a little hard on the eyesight for some people; however the 42 mm may be too big for some wrist even though it's easier to manipulate the software with. My simple suggestion: you got to try this yourself.
One thing is for sure: coming from someone that has use watches his entire life I have never try something so light. I definitely mean this on good way.
The screen resolution it's absolutely fantastic. Even on the 38 mm I can see and read things very well.
The digital crown it's definitely mind boggling: you turn it thinking that something mechanic is going to happen (maybe some resistance of sorts) but you realized in seconds that the whole things works very smoothly.
The bands not only complements the watch well but are very light and comfortable to use. Even the Milanese loop one(note: I have harry arms and I had no problem with it).
You probably heard a lot about the complications, they are as cool as you see in videos and others. In fact: did you know that there is a very useful complication for the battery level? It caught me by surprise! I didn't see that anywhere in apples website.
Other interesting details:
- The Apple associate explain that all notifications will be filtered directly to the watch. You don't have to worry about notifications "buzzing" in multiple devices.
- They seem to be running low on black sport bands (at least at my store they did. Not sure if other experience the same).
The apple associate was very helpful and told me that the feedback have been phenomenal. Not only people are trying, but there is a lot of people going to the store to play with it. I didn't get too much hands on with it for the same reason; some people wouldn't it let go the tryout stations.
Overall: I am happy with my purchase and the experience. Here is to hopping that my 38mm stainless steel apple watch gets here soon... After trying then on me, I had to tell the associated to take them off or I will be force to steal one from the store. Lol.

I have had very little interest in the Watch. Today I was in the mall where the Apple Store is located so I thought I'd drop in while the wife was shopping.
I was surprised that I was allowed the 15 minute treatment almost right away. All I can say is WOW! I was blown out of the water. That thing is amazing.

Next Episode you will get some real good hands on feedback from myself and other listeners.
So folks when you get your Apple Watches this week - call into the show 206-666-6364 - that’s 206-moon-dog - or email in your initial thoughts with your Apple watch - both with regards to setting it up and then the use of it. The Good - the Bad - the not so pretty. Whatever it is you want to share.
Oh at the end of today’s episode stick around after the song for more listener feedback on Apple Watch ordering and try-ons.

http://www.apple.com/accessibility/watch/
Thanks to Dr. John for this next one - which is an article at MacRumors titled - Apple Watch Accessibility Features - VoiceOver, Mono Audio, Grayscale, Taptic Engine and More - whew - nice short title there.
Actually that article really is just pulling info from Apples own site where they highlighted the Accessibility features in the Apple watch.
First up is Voiceover which uses the speaker on the Apple Watch to tell you everything that is happening on the screen and help those visually impaired navigate the Apple Watch. Voiceover is compatible with the Builtin Apps and available in 14 languages.
There is also Font Adjustment so you can make the text go from under 40 years old size to over 40 years old size. You can also choose to bold text.
With zoom you can do up to 15 times zoom.
There is Grayscale for those that are color blind or those really big fans of 50 shades of Gray.
There is an Extra Large Watch Face
And more Accessibility settings for Reducing Transparency, Reduce Motion, Mono Audio and the Taptic Engine.
The Taptic Engine gives you haptic feedback to your touches - and also vibrates as you get a new notification. So we will go from feeling ghost vibrations in our pocket to feeling ghost vibrations on our wrist - brilliant.
Actually I have the vibrations now for my Pebble for notifications - and it is definitely a great feature - but again one you can get with a much cheaper pebble.

http://www.cnet.com/news/11-surprises-i-learned-about-the-apple-watch/
This next article is from Cnet and is title 11 Surprises I learned about the Apple Watch. This from someone at CNET that had the apple watch for 10 days before writing the article.
I will not go over all 11 or even most - just the one that jumped out at me
Quote - You can't use your watch to start and stop calls on your iPhone
Wait, can this be true? It is, weirdly: you can make and answer calls on the Apple Watch, and then hand them off to your iPhone to continue the call there...but, you can't wear headphones connected to your phone, stick your phone in your pocket and use your watch to dial. I hope an update changes that.
unquote
Well Yeah - I really really hope an update fixes that. As that is one of my favorite features on my pebble - driving in the car with my headphones in - and seeing a call come in on my pebble - and hitting the answer button and being able to talk on my headphones. If Apple Watch can’t do that - it will be at the top of my Bad column when reviewing.
I will comment more on his 11 items after I get my wrist under my own Apple Watch.

http://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/09/apple-
watch-limited-functions-iphone/
MacRumors points out some interesting feedback about the Apple Watch that has not been mentioned fully by Apple.
Quote And here’s a surprising feature that Apple hasn’t said anything about previously: When the watch is in a known Wi-Fi hotspot, the watch can perform the most essential online functions even when your phone is completely dead, turned off, or absent. It can query Siri, for example, send and receive texts, and send/receive drawings and tap patterns to other watch owners. That’s impressive. unquote
Again the Apple Watch can do those things when your iPhone is now where near or turned off.

VOICEMAIL - ANDREW_AZ_ANSWR_AUDIOBOOKS
Hi Rob,
Regarding cody's question about being able to play audio books on a different Apple ID, if it is an audio book downloaded from the Apple Store, he should be able to take his moms Apple ID and add it to family sharing to his new Apple ID.
This should allow him to download songs, videos, books, apps, etc.

Hello Rob, long-time listener, first-time e-mailer :-)
Dave from New Jersey was experiencing an issue with deleting multiple, but not all, messages from a sender in the Messages app. I have experienced that same problem and it does appear to be a bug in 8.2. Rebooting the phone fixes this problem. I have upgraded to 8.3 and have not experienced this issue yet, but we will have to wait and see if it can be declared fixed.
Hope this helps!

Hi Rob - Just a quick note about the guy having issues with mail not sending. I think I’ve seen this… When it happened to me somehow the “From” picker was displayed at the bottom and iOS was waiting for input for which account to send from. Of course, I can’t get that to happen right now on iOS 8.2, so maybe it was an iOS 8.1 thing.
You asked about Calendar apps on one of the shows, I haven’t heard anyone mention Fantastical from Flexibits. I say the couple of different display modes alone make it worth buying. But then there’s a great text parsing engine that translates words into the right fields. If you do get it read the “Tips and Tricks” document for more use ideas.

One new post in the G+ community that went up since the last episode came out was from Francisco Tapia who said the following
Quote
What a waste of time the In store Apple Try-on appointment was.
First, you don't actually get to do anything with the watch you wear. it's in a demo video loop mode. So no launching of apps no touching and getting haptic feedback based on your touch no heart rate monitoring. Nothing! They have a second watch setup that you do not wear and it lets you interact with the watch. But there was not much I could do as it wasn't paired with an iPhone so i could try any of the apps, just Siri. :-/
The watch? It feels great. the demo mode lets you feel the haptic feedback, it's also great.
Will I buy one? Nope.
Unquote
I know I said best to wait and try one at the store if you were still on the fence - but really from Fancisco’s comments and others that “Tried” one at the Apple Store - it seems you are more seeing it how it looks and feels on your wrist than really test driving one. It will be the feedback from Friends and those you know and trust that will be the real push to get people off the fence - the question is which way will they be pushed off said fence. The Tii Google+ Community will be interesting watch these next few weeks as more and more of us get our watches and report in there or on the show. Lots of feedback is coming soon to community near you.

One question that came up in the last two weeks was from Kent Kersey who asked quote:
Is there a way to get different color flags on the iPhone mail app?
unquote
And the Answer would be NOPE - Just orange - and if you have an email that syncs to your computer - if you flag it a different color - or regardless of the color - it shows as flagged at Orange on your iOS device.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rogerkay/2015/04/13/apple-watch-wager/
So how many Apple Watches will Apple sell for the first year - well lots of Analysts have lots of thoughts on that. Trip Chowdhry is on the high side with 41 Million for his guess. Uncle always wrong Gene Munster has a guess of 8 million units on the low side. The average of 18 notable or infamous Apple Analysts puts the number at 22.47 Million for the first years sales of Apple watches. Obviously we can’t say who the winner is until at least April 24th 2016.
I do love those headlines - like this - Only 6% of Americans plan to buy an Apple Watch. - ONLY 6% - as if 6% of 350 Million is somehow a small number. It actually would be most of the way to the average guess of 22.47 Million - and that was a Global number - not US only number.
Like I said we can’t talk about who is wrong on that yearly number yet - but what we can talk now is the current estimates on what Apple has done already.
40:35
http://www.forbes.com/sites/aarontilley/2015/04/13/apple-
watch-scored-an-estimated-1-million-pre-orders-on-launch-day/
Right after the first weekend of pre-orders a company called slice that offers a service that users sign up for to manage purchases and receipts - they scanned through users emails to get an estimate of those that received email receipts of their Apple Watch purchases. And yeah if that sounds creepy - it is. But what Slice found was that about 1 Million people pre-ordered an Apple Watch in the US on Friday. With an average of 1.3 watches per order and an average of $503.83 per watch. 71% went with the 42 MM version versus 29% for the 38 MM version. CREEPY - what Slice also found was after releasing this report the number of cancelations to their service skyrocketed.
41:30
http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/16/8398579/apple-
watch-sales-estimates
Others are getting in on the Apple Watch pre-order numbers game. Ming-Chi Kuo estimates the global Pre-orders of over 2.3 Million units. He also estimated that the break down was 85% for the lower cost Sport version, 15% for the second tiered Stainless steel version and less than 1% for the massively overpriced Edition version.
Now you may wonder how Kou came to his conclusion of 2.3 Million pre-orders - well it is all about the formula. I asked him to explain a little bit and here is the recording Kuo sent back.
PLAY KOU_RECORDING_FOMULA
So there - thanks Kou for making that all crystal clear.
Here is the thing - we may never really know what initial orders were. The Apple Watch is lumber in the other category with Apple TV’s and accessories and other stuff. So Apple does not need to report the numbers. In the past Apple typically only reported numbers they did not have to when said numbers blew every analysts numbers out of the water. It is possible Tim on Monday will talk about specific numbers for the Apple Watch - which I am sure someone will ask - but most likely the response is that is a different quarters numbers and they are not breaking out those numbers - if that is the response - then the initial sales were likely less than 2.3 Million the first weekend or week.
Keep in mind that about 2 Million Pebbles and Android Wear devices combined have been sold. So unless Apple is comfortable about that number - don’t expect any specifics.

http://techcrunch.com/2015/04/10/psa-sorry-those-
apple-watch-band-swapping-sites-arent-going-to-work/
Thanks to Dr. John for this next one - which is from Techcrunch and titled - PSA: Sorry those Apple watch Band swapping sites aren’t going to work like you thought.
Seems a couple of Apple Watch band trading sites recently opened up reportedly offering the ability to swap out the included extra watchband with someone else for a small fee. Problem is you don’t get two full watch band sets - you get the main band and two bands on the other side one for small and the other for M / XL wrists.
OR put another way - you don’t get 4 halfs- but rather 3 half.
It seems some of those band swapping sites make it sound like you get 2 full sets of bands - and you can trade one set that is the wrong size for another of a different color that is the right size - but again - that is not the case or band as the case may be.
In other words wait to you get your Apple Watch and you will see what you get and what is extra and then we can talk about this in greater detail.
Or just look for someone in the Tii Google+ community that has a different wrist size you want to swap with.
Eventually I think the Bandswapping sites will be of more interest as we start buying more and more 3rd party bands and then want to swap them for something new once we tire of them - but for now - these sites seems a little premature.

guarantees-delivery-by-april-28th/#.tivas2:Alzn
Thanks to Dr. John again for this next one.
Which is a story about how Apple was offering up some devs a chance to get an Apple Watch early to help expedite their development efforts. Seems they reached out to a certain percentage of devs and almost randomly. And guess which watch they are offering to devs for early delivery - as in next week delivery - Yup the Apple Sport - Silver with blue band. the One I ordered because I thought it was the ugliest and least likely to sell out first. Nailed it.

Thanks to Michael for this next one - which is that Retail Apple Watches still feature a hidden diagnostic port where they band connects.
There is some speculation that said diagnostic port may not be there on the units shipping this week to consumers - but it was still there on review units.
If it is there - expect to hear more about its possible capabilities via tear downs at iFixit and other sites this weekend.

tv-netflix-hulu-lower-fee/
thanks to Dr. John for this next one. Which is an article talking about Apple TV - and they are speculating that June 8th at WWDC the next gen Apple TV will be released.
Ok well the article was really about Apple offering a lower fee to Netflix and hulu for signups via Apple tv - but the good part or interesting part to me was the mention that a new Apple TV was coming at WWDC and only one of the tricks up Apples Sleeves for that event.
WWDC should be very interesting this year.

Thanks to Dr. john for this next one. Which is about more Apple TV speculation - but I think their reasoning is wrong. If you look at the image for WWDC 2015 some are speculating the center image is the same outline as the Apple TV. Except well that WWDC 2013 also used that same image in the center of its logo. But you know other than that - yeah I think they are on to something or not.
Yes - I do think it is very likely for a new Apple TV - especially if there is an Apple TV app store announced - but you can find that same comment from me the last 3 years at least. I just don’t think the logo is revealing anything. It is just the same image from 2013 logo with more stuff around it.

http://www.iospolice.com/apple-buys-israeli-
camera-company-linx-imaging-for-2-million/
This next one is one of the better stories I saw this past two weeks - with regards to the Apple Rumor Mill. Seems Apple purchased an Israeli Company by the name of LinX Imaging for a rounding error of 20 Million dollars.
LinX makes Multi lens cameras for electronic devices and their two main claims to fame is very small profile - at around half that of other camera - with quality of that of a high end SLR camera.
Either one would be something to get excited about for a future iPhone camera - both combined - Now we talking upgrade time. This in theory would get rid of the protruding camera on the 6 and 6 plus and at the same time greatly improve the image quality. The LinX website also claims they can capture not just 2D images but also 3D images - yeah - whatever - just give me the lower profile / SLR quality photos - and that is enough for me.
As is typical Apple is not saying why they purchased them or their plans for said purchase - but between you and me - I am guessing it was for their camera technology - I mean if you don’t mind me going out on a limb on this one.
Is it possible this tech will be in their next iPhone in 5 Months - yes just 5 months - Probably not - but maybe they were working with them for a while and purchased them once they realized they were going to use them. So while not probable this will be in the next iPhone - it is possible. More on this I am hoping later this year.

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2911818/mobile-
wireless/apple-s-iphone-7-rumors-really-are-the-best-yet.html
Ok - so lets look a little at some rumors about the next iPhone.
First is that the “S” designation may be killed off this time around and Apple will go right to iPhone 7 and 7+ and 7 Air.
There is the Force touch rumor
There is a rumor on Apple finally using Liquid Metal for the case.
And the case will be blasted with zirconia bead for a stunning finish
There is the rumor now about the Advanced camera module being used from LinX tech - Well John Gruber was saying this camera would be the biggest jump yet in camera tech - so people are trying to connect the dots on that back to LinX.
The Processor will of course be upgraded and with the upgrade to iOS 9 - we may see performance that rivals the new MacBook.
There would also be 2GB of ram in the next iPhone.
With all these improvements and more - this is why Apple is jumping to the iPhone 7 name. And again there are rumors there will be 3 versions - iPhone 7 and 7 Plus matching in size the 6 and 6Plus - plus a 7 Air or 7C - matching in size the 5 and 5 - and also maybe being plastic like the 5C.

http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/04/20/google-to-
discontinue-youtube-support-on-older-ios-devices-apple-tvs
Thanks to Dr John for this next one or not - as the news is that Google will be discontinuing support for the Youtube app in older iOS devices.
So if you have a device that uses the old native Youtube app - you might be SOL shortly - actually if the article was to be believed as soon as April 20th.
And I happened to look at my kids original iPad tonight and ut ohh - well at first there were no search results - not even for Cats - and nothing in the Featured, Top Rated and Most viewed categories. But after an hours or trying to connect it finally got through but now in the upper left the first search result or item displayed is a message from Google that basically says goodbye or soon to be goodbye - as of right now it is kind of still working - but it is not working well - and looks to soon be sunset.
Looks like I have a couple of little hearts to break this weekend - Thanks Google. All my 6 year old wants to use the iPad original for is Netflix and Youtube - the later for Minecraft and Traria videos. Is that so much for a 6 year old to ask for. Well I guess so. Thanks Google. Thanks a bunch.

http://www.talkandroid.com/245640-roommates-stab-
each-other-in-iphone-versus-android-debate/
In the you could have seen this one coming category. Comes news that two roommates in Tulas OK - One an Apple Accolyte and the other an Google Fan boy - got into a tiff over which mobile OS is better and then well some Alchol was involved as was some sharp pointy things and they wound up stabbing each other. Actually the pointy things were broken beer bottles. You would think the iOS guy could at least have some money for a real knife. The Broken Bottle that however fits perfectly for the Android Fan Boy.
Both were treated for the minor injuries - because well they were geeks and it was broken bottles - it was not like they were going to do any real damage.
No Charges have been filed as of yet - seems the Cops were Windows Phone 8 guys and just wanted the two to go away.

VOICEMAIL - JOHN_FDBK_IOS83_UPDATE
Hi Rob,
Per the first iOS 8.3 bug I found
When you scroll down from a text notification to do a quick reply, it doesn't bring up the keyboard! Wow, I never thought I'd use that feature and now that I can't I've realized how much I actually did use it!
Regards,
Jason H
Hi Rob,
After updating to iOS 8.3, both my pull-down Notifications and pull-up Settings menus periodically stop responding. I discovered a fix that works for my set-up, although it is only temporary.
If I go to Accessibility and toggle Zoom off & back on, they work again.
(Note; I'm only referring to their display - I still have trouble with some Notifications never appearing; but that started before this 8.3 update.)
Regards,
Steven in Santa Ana, CA
Dear Rob,
iOS 8.3 is still a win, but I think it needs a bug fix. Among a number of other much smaller bugs, my iPhone 6 plus actually crashed for the first time ever. Maybe Apple will release an iOS 8.3.1.
Sincerely, Joe
Hi, Rob.
Just wanted to let you know about a few bugs I found on iOS 8.3 for iPhone 5s:
- Last week I answered an incoming phone call and then add another call to merge both in a conference call.
However, once the new call was answered, the user interface did not show me the relevant buttons, including the Merge button.
Usually I get the six buttons (Mute, Keypad, Speaker, Add Call, FaceTime, Contacts), but this time none of them appeared... just the red hangup button at the bottom of the screen.
I had to hangup both calls, reboot the iPhone and then call each party again independently to properly merge the calls in a new conference call.
- Just today I had another conference call: I phoned one party and merged the call with another party and then let them talk on Speaker while having my Mute button active (I just had no intervention in their conversation). So, at this point both parties where talking on Speaker (on) while I'm Muted (on).
When they finished talking the second party hanged up; I then turned the Speaker button off and tried to turn off the Mute button as well, unsuccessfully (just didn't turn off!)... I had to turn the Speaker on again in order to turn off the Mute button (weird!) and only then I could finally continue talking to the first party.
- Since iOS 6 and iOS 7 I reported a bug in the stock Calendar app: I'm not able to see the calendar for 1921 (it's completely missing), 1920 (it has no January) and previous years (1919 and before all appear wrecked). I event sent a link back in April 2014 with screenshots showing this behavior
- (https://plus.google.com/photos/106132141704841421347/
- albums/6006049579211315473).
I also sent a bug report to Apple about this (they never answered back), but the bug is still present in all versions of iOS 8 for iPhone, iPod Touch (5th gen) and iPads... I'm not a time traveler (wish I were), but it's weird that Apple doesn't take the time to amend this bug.
Bugs 1 and 2 are new to iOS 8: I make conference calls quite frequently since 2012 and this is the first time I see them, just after upgrading to iOS 8.3
Thanks, Rob, and keep up the good work!
Regards,
- Fabio
Rob:
I thought you might want to know about this. It's another reason to take your advice and wait before updating. As you might know, many pilots use IOS devices to enhance situational awareness while flying. IOS 8.3 disables many of the external GPS receivers pilots use:
As there is a compatibility issue with iOS 8.3 and external GPS receivers.
It's not clear when this issue will be resolved.

Rob, I use to be able to hold the menu button down to get my AppleTV to go to sleep at night. However since the recent update this no longer works. I've gone through the setting but don't see anything regarding this function. Are you seeing the same?
Luke
Good Morning Rob,
I updated my phone today and it removed one of my favorite apps "Record Their Stories". So I have a couple questions.
1. Why would Apple remove an app when I update my phone? If it were no longer on the app store, it should not be removed from my phone?
2. What happened to the app?
I hope you are able to garner some inside information.
Regards,
Kevin S
Hi Kevin - all I can say is that it was removed from the iTunes App store - it could be because they did not re-up their dev license or because there was a bug and they pulled it down. Or it could be because there was something malicious with the App - and that would be the only reason Apple would kill it on your iOS device - which Apple can do to any iOS app on your device.
There is another reason it could have disappeared - if you have a lot of apps - as in all your home screens are full - and it was just pushed off the screen - if you swipe down from the middle of the screen and search for the app - that will let you know if it is truly gone or just pushed off the home screens. If anyone knows anything about this particular app and why it is not longer in the app store - call or email us your feedback.

Hey rob,
Just finish listened to your last episode of the show. During your kick starter section.. You mention the bullet wallet was only available for iPhone 6! Yes it is and it do end by May of 2015.... But the iPhone 6 plus model was funded back on November of 2014.. They reach their goal and they promise a feb 2015 ship date. I funded it and they haven't ship yet. They said it ran into manufacturing issues. According to their schedule, it will start shipping the iPhone 6 plus model in end of May. Which sucks cause that means less time with case since I'm always buying every model of iPhone. So my plan was to keep my iPhone 6 plus for 2 years so at least I will have the case for a year and half. Anyway, the case looks like best wallet case so far on the market. It does looks wonderful and very useful. Just wish all these kick starter project will expedite their products. Thanks for reading my email. Love the show!
Your friend of the show and listener,

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kickshark/hydradock-
11-port-usb-c-dock-for-apple-macbook
Thanks to all that sent in this next one.
And it is a Kickstarter project called the HydraDock which is an 11 port USB-C dock for Apple MacBook - so for all of us asking where the ports all went - well it seems the answer is they went to HydraDock.
This project had a goal of 35k and is now over 56k and it has until May 15th at 9:37 PM CT for you to get one of these on order.
Here are the ports you get
1 - 3.5 MM stereo headphone port
1 - Gigabit Ethernet Port
1 - SD card slot
1 Mini Display Port up to 2,560 x 1,440 resolution - i.e. sorry 30” display no soup for you. I did check on that with the developers of this and they confirmed the 30” cinema display is not supported - wannnnt wannnt waaaa
1 HDMI port
4 - USB 3 ports
2 - USB - C ports
And that is your 11 ports.
Pricing for this is $129 and they have 829 of 1000 left at that price. Delivery starts in June.
I did ask the folks that make this if it would work with the 30 inch cinema display which is 2560 x 1600 - and they said it would not - because that is a dual-link DVI connector and the MacBook is only set to go to 2,560 x 1440 resolution for a monitor. I talked to Adam Christianson at the MacCast on this - and he said we would need to wait and see if there is a special box released just for supporting the 30” cinema display - but these solution would likely not be cheap. So if you have a 30” cinema display and were looking at running your MacBook on it - you may want to hold off upgrading right now. I hopefully will have more news on this later on.

Saw this on indigogo, and since its funded already, I thought I might just get it for our bedroom, one on each side.

San Francisco
And this is the NuDock - one word - spelled - N U D O C K
Well the full name is the NuDock Apple Watch and iPhone docking station.
There is a lamp for this - as well as an extra portable battery.
Pricing for this is $149 - delivery is expected in July.
This allows you each night to charge up your iPhone, your Apple watch and an extra portable battery - each in their dock location - and there is a nice overhead lamp with dimmer - so you can see everything at night.
It is very nice looking - and makes a lot of sense for those of you that travel most of the day locally and find your phone running down all of the time.
This project has until May 5th for you to fund - and it is at $318k raised so far towards a goal of just 30k. So this one is over 10x its funding goal - that seems to be a winner.

http://www.wipowerband.com
in the Doooo - why did I not think of it category comes the WiPowerBand strap - it is a $99 or $89 dollar strap for your Apple watch that also has batteries in in the strap. So that is a great way to extend the life of your Apple Watch battery - This I predict will be selling like hot cakes at a sumo wrestlers convention.
It gives an extra 250 mAh of battery - which if rumors are true is an extra 62.5% of battery life - as the Apple Watch 42 mm version is rumored to have a 400 mAh battery - guess we will know more once iFixiT rips one apart.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-pay-plans-to-
launch-in-canada-this-fall-1429280816?ru=yahoo?mod=yahoo_itp
Not all news is Apple Watch news today - there is some Apple Pay news as well - well if you happen to live where Hockey rules that is. Seems Canada will be getting Apple Pay this fall - according to the Wall Street Journal.
Apple is supposedly in negotiation with Canada’s six biggest Banks about a potential November launch. The 6 biggest banks account for more than 90% of Retail charges. So if they can get those 6 ducks in a row - it will be a nice start in Canada.
At this point the WSJ said there is some push back on Apples fee proposal - as in that they want a fee and Banks for some reason like keeping as much money as possible. But hey if the US banks could come around - expect the Canadian Banks to do so as well - it just takes one of the 6 to blink and sign on - to get the other 5 fall in line for fear of loosing customers to the Apple ecosystem. I predict many trips to Strip joints in the future for some certain Canadian bankers - just sayin.

http://www.cnet.com/how-to/unlock-the-secret-spock-emoji-in-ios-8-3/
Thanks to Matt for this next one - which is an iOS 8.3 secret - as in unlocking a secret Spock Emoji if you have iOS 8.3
This is a Vulcan salute emoji - and it is not technically on the device - but you can add it easy enough. To add it - with iOS 8.3 - in the Twitter app search for the following.#tii #spock
Then copy that tweet
then go to Settings on your iPhone - select General - then Keyboards - then Shortcuts.
Tap the + icon - then double tap in Phrase - and paste in what you copied and remove everything but the Vulcan emoji.
Then for short cut - you will want to enter llap - which is for well if I have to tell you you are not doing this any way. Then tap save.
Then in the future when you want that emoji - just type L L A P
Note the icon will only be visible to those iOS users running 8.3 or later.
You can also find the tweet by going to @podcast411 - and look for my tweet from April 22nd or 23rd. It is the one right before I tweet about episode 344.

Thanks again to lynda dot com for their support of Tii - and if you go to lynda dot com slash tii - that is l y n d a dot com slash t i i - you will get a free 10 day trial to their 3,000 plus video tutorials. Thanks Lynda for sponsoring this show and for the free offer.
And Before we go today I want to remind you to send in your feedback to the show - 206-666-6364 - that 206-moon-dog - or record your feedback and email it to the show at today in iOS at gmail dot com - The feedback can be a question or comment per something someone said on this episode or it can be a question or rant you have about something else. An App or product review - good or bad - as long as it is iOS related - it is welcomed. I am always looking for new Artwork to feature that you created on an iOS device - just put some Tii branding on it and send it in.
