  • Kevin - I may have been hard on Topolsky - but IMO - he is either being lead astray by a "un-named source" or is making it up for link bait. It does not make any sense for an iPad 2Plus this fall. Price Wise, Yield wise or marketing wise. Yes eventually there will be a 320 ppi res iPad - but not this fall. Why would Apple do it now with such a commanding lead in the tablet space. And why so soon after the launch of the iPad 2. Plus they are still not even fully caught up on the iPad 2 backorders. So based on all that - which Topolsky also is aware of - again he is either being lead astray or link baiting - IMO.

  • Way, way too harsh on Topolsky, Rob. First, if you're going to gripe it should be to Gruber who was the first to posit such as product in the same "unnamed sources way" (except that Gruber user the phrase "a little birdie told me..."). It isn't as if there is a precedent with this with the iPhone. And with the 2x system images that are being found in iOS. AND with some other tablets. You made it sound like it would never happen. You NEVER mentioned "not this year but maybe next spring". You made it sound like Topolsky is making this up. You can disagree with the idea or say you don't think it is likely for specific reasons. But I don't think Topolsky was making stuff up just for link bait.
